Because Brooks will probably be better in four years. I'm interested in seeing how Danny Williams develops. I think he could be a better Maurice Edu but I doubt he gets as good as Jones.

Any Besler is better than any Omar.

Guzan (if Howard retires)
Cameron-Brooks-Besler-Johnson
Bradley-???
Yedlin-???-Green
Altidore

While there are a lot of unknowns still, I think these are some of your "safer" bets. A ton can happen in 4 years.

Cameron might be too old by then.

I'd prefer Boyd or Bacon over Jozy.

We have to have somebody better than Gonzo.

Besler can play on the right side of the backline.

I think the ideal is to have a right footed CB and a left footed CB.

I think in terms of the two center halves, that's a very overrated quality. You play your two most disciplined defenders and Besler is by far our most disciplined right now. 4 years from now, that may change but I can't see a scenario where both he and Gonzalez are on the squad and Omar is the one in the XI.

Jozy not being good enough to play as a lone striker.

It's amazing how much better this is because Jurgen brought so much youth to Brazil. We barely returned anyone this World Cup, but that shouldn't be the case next go around for the same reason.

Omar had a solid WC.

Sure he's not great marking players, but his emergency defending makes up for it.

He'll only be 29 at the next WC so everyone may as well accept him being a factor. Seltzer put him in his 2018 XI for a reason - he still could be the best option in Russia.

And Besler will be 31, which is still kinda prime for a center half.
