LOTG were changed last year to allow for this.
A PIAOP isn't deemed offside until they play the ball or substantially become involved in the play. The infraction results in an IFK at the point where the ball is touch by the offending player, so if you're offside near the halfway line and come back into your defensive half to play the ball, the IFK is taken from where you touch it.
