Per Twitter, it was approved for the Club World Cup, Confederations Cup, and the 2014 World Cup

Another way for Koman Coulibaly to frick us.

As necessary as this is I will say that had it existed during this past world cup Landon would probably had never scored his epic Algeria goal cause our missed goal from earlier in the game would have counted. Don't mistake this for an anti-goal technology rant because it's definitely not that. Just some food for thought.
ETA: never mind I'm a moron.

I'll take what? Three goals ? in a World Cup over Landon's Algeria goal.
frick dat shite. We should have went through with ease. Shouldn't have been in that predicament.

You talking about Dempsey's goal that was called offsides even though he wasn't?

I thought the issue was that the ball hit the crossbar landed over the line and bounced back out. I missed the first half of that game cause I was at work

You are thinking about Germany/England

I guess that's it. My stupidity aside, what kind of technology are we looking at here?
Posted on 7/5/12 at 12:36 pm to rdw1690
Laser beams/cameras that detect if the ball has indeed fully crossed the line.
Posted on 7/5/12 at 12:37 pm to rdw1690
I'm assuming there will be a sensor in the ball that proves whether or not it crossed the line in it's entirety.

Brave's got a point, I forgot about the small detail of replacing goal-line refs with sharks.
Comes with the added benefit of no back talking the ref.

March 2010
Fifa general secretary Jerome Valcke reiterated the position, saying technology was “definitely not on the table”
June 2010
Ok we will think about it
June 2012
July 2012
We must have it!

How will we train the sharks to keep the laser beams directed across the goal line?

I wonder if there will be tech in/on the ball as well to make sure the entire ball crosses (spinning ball could cause problems if not accounted for). Also I wonder if there will be some sort of goal light like in hockey (whatever the hell they call that thing)
