You ever play Football manager series? Or do you like being able to actually play the game and make the players move, rather than watch sims?

FM touch is the sweet spot for me because it gives me alot to do without taking over my life like the full version did. I can put it down for a week and not be totally lost on what I was doing when I play it again. I had it on the iPad before, but they have it on the Switch now and I much prefer it that way.

Plus it gives me a soccer option since FIFA on the Switch is an embarrassment and EA should be ashamed of themselves (we all know they aren't).

I let the GM, Technical Director, Chief Scout, and asst coach do all the work.

But it can get tedious

A big issue is the fouls on the computer not getting called in career mode

It’s literally how it forces turn overs when your have the ball for an extended period of time or when they are pressing you and it’s the only way it can create a scoring chance. Especially when they have faster and better team.

Those of us with FM20 or 21, should do a tourney one late night/morning,etc set a budget, and we draft player/buy player and play a double elim tourney

i know they do it on twitch with biggest fm streamers, and it looks fun. with 4-6 peeps, we could easily get double elim and knock outs done in a few hours.

I really should get back on FM

You can tell all the changes of the game for Ultimate team have made career mode game play worse.

The defense is the big one so the games would be more high scoring

Also when the AI doesn’t want you to have the ball or wants a goal in this year it’s absurd compared to past years when they would just look like Peak Pep Barca. This year it’s like you playing against the best Ultimate team players is how the computer plays. Back heels, insane flicks, insane passes just so they can score on you. Literally highlight goals you only would see on UT being scored by the computer in career mode.

I've got a few main gripes with the game this year- but I understand it' never going to be a perfect game.

The biggest thing that needs to be fixed is how insanely OP the high press is. All 11 guys man mark and it makes it nearly impossible to play out of the back without turning it over, and a long ball is a turnover 75% of the time because if you win a header it's just a loose ball for the defender to scoop up. Stamina should be severely punished for the players that just spam it.

Second main gripe is the center backs and defensive midfielders don't man mark at all and will just watch a forward go right by them on a triggered run. I really like to play quick 1-2's in the final third to score goals with a pretty balanced build up pace. The game meta though is constant high press for a turnover, long through ball counter attacks, or spam skill moves. I played a match on my lunch break in rivals (division 5) and was up 5-3 in the 90th, so it didn't matter, but the guy takes the kickoff and keepie uppies with benzema all the way into the box for an easy goal to make it 5-4 as time expired. I couldn't get the ball off him, and of course once he bypassed the midfield they might as well have not even been on the pitch because they don't track back at that point.

Oh, and scripting of course. I had TOTY Neuer in goal for a little while and lost 2-0 to a guy in weekend league. 21 shots on goal for me and 2 for him. 0 saves for Neuer and 17 for Nick Pope, several of which were rebound saves where he blocked shots from about 4 yards out from his knees

Thats what really gets me Ultimate Team's unrealistic game play has made it into Career modes.

Giving up a goal after the AI does 4 back heel passes in a row or when you go to tackle a guy and your player doesn't even do anything is so removed from real football.

I gave up a goal the other night that was straight from how its played online. My wife just heard and said you suck until I actually showed her. The CB plays a 35 yard ball to the winger who runs it down at the endline. He one touch crosses the ball out of the air while jumping and it lands right into the path of their forward who makes a perfect run behind my CB. The forward then one touch finishes it out the air from inside the six. The computer scored with three touches and the ball never hitting the ground starting from 35 yards out LMAOOO.

Any time you play UT you've just got to expect to play the sweatiest of people because everyone wants to win so bad. You've got people who just try to bomb long through balls and pray that their 99 pace striker gets on to it or they're holding on to the ball waiting for you to switch to the wrong guy and get that opening to goal.

I hear you on the CDM's though, it's absolutely ridiculous how little the CPU even tries to be involved in defense. Then you try to control all 6 guys you have defended and confusing the shite out of yourself.

I'd narrow it down more to just marking and tracking back. The CPU blocked shots and interceptions are pretty OP, they just don't track off ball movement or attempt to get back into a play if they're dribbled past.

The skill moves need to be nerfed in a bad way though. That shite rarely works in actual soccer, especially the rainbow flicks and keepie uppies that are just training ground shite.

I get the sweat lords because everyone has 82 pace Varane or Gomez at CB (or playing traore or walker on 7 chem) and those guys will hawk down a 99 striker like he's standing still. There's not a lot they can do with pace when the disparities between the fastest strikers and fastest center backs is so large in game. In reality there are few center forwards on the planet that would beat a healthy Virgil Van Dijk in a 100m dash, but his base pace is like 76. Fast CBs are more OP than fast strikers (unless of course a striker gets in the channel on them, then they just stand still and let them run by)

regarding the 1 touch stuff- the volley and ball control ratings should carry much more weight than they do. Ball control really only impacts how close a guy keeps the ball when dribbling from what I can tell, and i've volleyed in some absolute bangers with Davies and Semedo on overlaps. IRL those would be diving headers though if the guy was taking first time, and you can't differentiate in game what you want to do

Side note if anyone wants to try a fun formation in FUT- 3-4-1-2 is OP as hell since the last patch. I admittedly have great players in my squad, but i'm 6-0-0 since making the switch in rivals, 5 of those being since promoted to division 4

Post your current lineup/formation minus the guys you're set on

I ran a serie A squad for a quite a while because I had untradeable SMS headliner. Him and the 83 Duncan card are monster CDMs in 4-2-3-1. I've had 92, 93 and 94 CR7 ST cards. Couldn't tell a difference between the 93 and 94 but both felt considerably better than the 92.

Then again the 84 Muriel card is selling for like 55K and was my leading scorer for quite some time

ETA: just saw the pics. Wasn’t loading on my desk top

Something that incorporates a lot of your current squad

If you want to utilize what you have in LB Traore try a 5-3-2 and buy the tavernier card for RWB. It’s an insane formation this year

I start in a 4-4-2 for chemistry but switch to a 3-5-2 in game.

My lineup

ST - 92 gold rare Ronaldo
ST - 93 gold rare Messi

CAM - 91 prime Nedved
CM - 89 mid Lahm
CM - 93 flashback Kroos

LM - 93 team of the year Davies
RM - 88 future stars Dest

CB - 90 prime Keane
CB - 85 base Vidic
CB - 86 gold rare Varane
