What formation are you running?

4-2-3-1, basically the Chelsea formation with 2 defensive mids, 3 attacking mids, 1 striker

I run 4-4-2 and 4-1-2-1-2 on FUT so that may be a problem

In my days of playing Notts County, I had to change up formations when I couldn't score. I ended up settling on 4-3-3, because that one worked for me.

I have a love/hate relationship with 3 man back lines. 3-4-1-2 and 3-4-2-1 gave me great results in divisions 6-4 on FUT, but I couldn't keep up in division 2 and 3. I'd lose games like 5-3 or 6-4. Anybody playing compact formations got throttled, but if they played with pacey wingers then 60% of the game was played on my third of the pitch. When I had Ronaldo and Bale at 3-4-2-1 the formation was lethal, I still gave up a pile of second half goals though when the opponent figured out to just attack it by blasting down the wing

Yeah, 3 back works best vs. 2 forward formations. You always want to have one CB more than opposing strikers.

You can get away with 3 back formations against 4-2-3-1 at times if your wingers can drop back enough to hang with their wingers. That middle CB can step up and serve as a DM of sorts if you tweak his role in the tactics menu.

I'm up to div 3 in H2H. not sure how. I was hovering around the median line in D4 yesterday and decided to play a few games with FC Dallas because they have 10 in form players(atop the west), and banged out a 4-1,3-0,4-0 before I even realized what I was doing

Form in my Mallorca career has dipped.

I was 22-1-0. Now 24-3-0.

I've all but given up on them

I pass too much to worry about moving in tight spaces, and I can't seem to get the stick to respond. it's always late

They make such a difference online. it's basically impossible to tackle someone during a skill move. I hate it's like that, you shouldn't be able to just take over a game with Juan Cuadrado, but it happens. Skill moves and slide tackles are the bane of my existence.

My passing is so sporadic on FUT. I've got great passers in the midfield, but I only get the weight right half the time. 1/4 of the time I pass it to the wrong guy, the guy that's marked and in the vicinity of the open guy I'm trying to get the ball to. Nothing really frustrates me more about this game than a pass going to someone I didn't intend it to go to

Side step an imminent slide tackle, bomb forward, hope he pulls a center back up to meet my midfielder and create a channel for my striker. That's basically my offensive strategy in division 3. It's either that, score from a set piece, or counter attack. Tiki taka doesn't work for shite in the high divisions.

I have gotten really good at aiming free kicks though. 25 and in I'm a threat to score

it sucks because attacking as a whole moves smoother when using them. I've only played 2 online FUT games(I just got on next gen a few weeks ago) but in H2H I'm basically limited to ball rolls and flicks. I'm going to concentrate on stuff like berba spins and honing first touches to create more space. I still feel like most of my opponents are using pressure and aggression values over 70 the majority of the time

FIFA fricked up their passing a couple years ago when it became more based on the power of the pass

sometimes the computer thinks you mean to pass it to somebody else and it goes between the 2

sometimes the game just fricks you

fwiw, and im guessing not much, but ive been a division 1 player for years and I have never used a skill move. not kidding.

I suppose that could make my ceiling lower than some, but they really aren't as necessary as you guys are making them out to be. I do agree that they are tough to defend, obviously.

i don't think i ever use them either

obviously we're not talking first touch

the players who rely on skill moves can get an early goal (sometimes 2) against me, but typically once they reveal that, it's over for them

I don't either, I was strictly talking about creating space either with or right after the first touch. when I'm playing someone who uses them just for the sake of using them I just jockey 4 or 5 yards away and sit and wait. I assume it's mostly 12 year old Mexican kids

at this day in age how are people still allowed to play a one on one match with such shitty Internet? I just had a match where it was off by just enough that I literally couldn't get a pass off yet he's ping ponging the ball all over the place. and of course he's in division 2 with a record of like 50-10-10. I call bullshite that the player with the bad connection isn't at some kind of advantage because they always have a winning record

we're not talking FPS server rooms here, I know EA's servers get overloaded, but a game with over a million active players shouldn't match P2P with such a difference in connection speed. I'd rather wait ten minutes to find a game then play with a lower class 3rd world country Internet connection

I always abandon the match if the latency isn't in the green
