That shite just happened to me. Probably the worst scheduling glitch I've seen yet.

Sat - FA Cup Quarterfinal at Arsenal (L 0-1)
Tues - Merseyside Derby vs. Liverpool (D 0-0)
Thu - 2nd leg Europa vs. Man United (L 0-2)
Sat - EPL vs. Middlesbrough (W 2-1)

Seven minutes, world class, playing with union Berlin. Just got promoted after my second season. The board decided to reward our promotion by giving me a 1.5 million budget with 7k for wages. Wtf is this league 2? How do you compete in the bundesliga with this shite?

you have to do the "sell and adjust the wages/transfer ratio" move. you used to be able to glitch the computer by doing this b/c the wages are NEW wages and they don't take into account your old wage bill. so you basically get to free ride off that. i don't play manager mode in 16 but i presume that engine is still the same
way back when (probably 2008 or 2009) you used to just have one bank of money and wages were taken out each week. i had some super team and over $1B in the bank. they changed it after that year to the algorithm i spoke of above and i don't think it's changed
with how the boards of small teams work, the sell/adjust method is about all you can do to improve the team. salaries end up almost as tough to work in as the transfer fees themselves. i'd develop a shite ton of young dudes and buy lots of young guys and sell to fund my real team

i play seasons i try to choose teams based on who they will play (i use restrictive matching)
so BvB is fun (and with Auba you can counter the attack/press teams) but sometimes they get superior teams that are hard to beat. you won't face real or barca (that top tier has like 4-5 teams and it's ridiculous. frick that) but you get PSG and Brazil often
i moved down a notch and now play with Zenit. they don't really get those lower-level super teams and i play a different variety of teams. issues are the slow CBs who get mauled when you play a team like Bayern 04 and really slow target man striker (who is ineffective against the press). have to learn a new style (working on cross/head)
i'd love to find 3-star teams to play on but you can't find people online in level 1/2 who play with those teams very often and you just sit there for an hour waiting to match with a team

LA Galaxy is a good lower tier team to play with. When I played seasons on FIFA 15 I played with them and Portugal a lot. Every now and then with Portugal I would draw Brazil, but it was usually a team like Mexico, Holland, or Uruguay. The trick is finding that type of team that's in the upper echelon of their pool. Portugal doesn't have a bad squad and happen to have the best player on the game

I've been in division 5 for like 4 season now in FUT, I need to get better at skilling and tweak my tactic sliders to my liking.

i did that in 14 a good deal
Portugal is pretty tough b/c you can pace the frick out of people, so they're popular with that subset of...people
you stick carvalho as a destroyer CDM them put ronaldo at ST with nani/queresma out wide with moutino and danny distributing and that's a tough team to play if they speed/press

The pace whores are rampant on FUT. At least EA toned Ibarbo and Doumbia down a little. Ibarbo would just shrug off tackles in midfield and skill his way into the box for a tap in. shite was infuriating. I've built and sold a Ligue 1, Bundesliga, and Premier league team so far. Laccazzette has been my best player, that includes an Aguero card and an in form Aubamayang card. Just sold off my team again and in the process of building a La Liga squad. I'm about 150k coins shy of being able to buy Ronaldo, then I'll build around him.
