Is there any bigger dumpster fire in MLS soccer right now than FC Cincinnati?

On top of that, Darren Mattocks is facing multiple felony charges.

I think pretty much everyone has confirmed that he wasn't singing a song.

If this was la liga, he would've still had a job.

If this was Italy he would’ve been given a new contract and a pay increase.

Wait, hold on a minute, did he lie to an insurance company about when he took out a policy from that same insurance company:

Jans has said he used the N-word while singing along to a hip-hop song during a training camp in Arizona, but MLS Players' Association executive director Bob Foose released a statement on Tuesday claiming "the narrative that the conduct here involved singing along to song lyrics is completely false," and accused Jans of creating a toxic atmosphere within the team.

Jans, a native of the Netherlands, told ESPN that after using the N-word in singing along with a hip-hop song, he was immediately pulled aside by defender Nick Hagglund, who told him that it was a cultural taboo for a white person to say that word in America.

"I always walk into the locker room and have some talks and there's always music and I'm interested in music," Jans told ESPN. "I also know a little bit about hip-hop songs and maybe I do impulsive things. Sometimes I like to show that I'm interested in that culture and support people against any kind of discrimination and even racism. I hate it. But I did a clumsy thing and I realized that and I apologized for when I hurt people's feelings. But it wasn't addressed to someone. It wasn't in bad intention."

Jans also acknowledged to ESPN an incident that took place last October during a team talk prior to a game against D.C. United. In that talk he brought up slavery as an example of overcoming adversity but was adamant he "never had bad intentions."

Jans is being scapegoated IMO dude is a Dutch Patriot and has been photographed with Geert Wilders so this is largely political.

I believe so. Got in a wreck and supposedly lied about when he took out the auto insurance policy. Was asking for $45k in repairs, I think.

Definitely a bizarre situation. Cincinnati can’t catch a break, man.

Fanendo Adi had more DUI charges than goals for most of last season. Now dumbass Darren Mattocks tries to commit insurance fraud, which may cost him his green card status.

And now Ron Jans gets canned for dropping N-bombs. Just strange. From what I can tell, he seemed to just be innocently unaware that saying the N-word is a big no-no in America.

The thought of a happy, old Dutchman singing along and dropping N-bombs makes me laugh for some reason. Every YouTube video about the firing is being downvoted to hell by a bunch of angry Dutch people. It’s quite a trip through those comment sections.

He was doing a pretty good job at turning around the shitshow of a team he inherited.

And was he really turning them around? I think they lost ten games and won three or something like that

Here's a link to one local news video about the firing:

LINK

Currently has 4 upvotes to 56 downvotes, with a bunch of angry Dutch guys in the comments. Including one calling the black reporter a monkey.

And another with 23 upvotes to 105 downvotes.

And I maybe used "turnaround" a bit generously. They went from being a historically bad team with no clear identity, to just being a bad team that at least had a system under Ron Jans. It's like putting plaster on an axe wound. They still finished worst in the league for both goals scored and goals conceded by a mile.

Under Alan Koch, they went 2-7-2 with only 8 goals scored in 11 games, getting shut out in 6 of his last 7 games in charge. Then under the interim coach, they had the opposite problem where they scored more goals, but were a complete sieve defensively, conceding 32 goals in 12 games with 0 shutouts.

Ron Jans came in, installed a new system, they went 1-6-4 to close the season against a pretty tough schedule, which is technically worse than how they did under Koch, in terms of points earned. But in the eye test, I think most people would say they looked much better at the very end of the season. They no longer leaked goals defensively, and they were starting to string things together in the attack, despite not having very good players. Under Koch and Damet, they were a disorganized mess most of the time.

FC Cincinnati botched their initial roster build for 2019 so badly that it's gonna take them at least 2 more seasons to fully recover from that. I think they made some good moves to improve the roster this offseason, but we'll see. No manager in the world could have gotten that 2019 team in the playoffs. Just a terrible roster all-around.

Also I find it highly amusing that all of the Dutch are shitting on America for being some backwards racist place when zwarte Piet is basically a beloved blackface Christmas elf.

I find it interesting that a lot of Dutch people seem to support this guy’s character. It will be interesting to see how this thing plays out.
