I gave up on this guy at the end of the summer transfer window. However, Woodward had a lot to do with that, too.
United have looked good a few times this season in spite of him.

I mean, I don't know how good of a squad Man U actually is. Fergie got them through the last couple of years, but they are an aging squad with very few really elite players. Carrick can't hold a midfield by himself, Fellinai was an awful buy, Cleverly is average, Evra and Ferdinand are on their last legs, and they don't have anyone who can create. RvP and Rooney have to carry that team.
I think Moyes will get the chance to rebuild the squad, as I don't think he's a bad manager. He just seems scared to anything proactive, which is problematic. He needs to affect change, not react when something happens.

I'm mostly surprised that Man United didn't go after a guy with an attractive system to entice players. Seems like the Manchester United name isn't enough anymore.
I still don't know if it's true that Moyes decided he didn't want Thiago or if Thiago just decided he'd rather Bayern, but I really don't see how you miss out on that transfer.

I don't know if the name ever attracted people. It was always Ferguson. I think Man U is regressing to the mean after they had the best manager ever lead them to title after title. Ferguson was worth at least 15 points a season, probably more, on just his attacking principles alone.
They are flush with cash, have the best global brand in the world, and have a massive fanbase. They can rebuild fairly easily, but they need to discard a lot of players, and be really aggressive in the transfer market.
Moyes seems like he's pussyfooting, like he doesn't want to lose his job. Once he starts managing as if he has nothing to lose, I think things will come together. Granted, this tentativeness might be part of his personality, which makes him the wrong fit for the rebuilding job that he needs to do.

I agree with most of both of these posts.
New blood needed to be brought in if United wanted to compete with an improving group of EPL powers and in the UCL, period. But that didn't happen. Fellaini was a poor choice in this system, and he almost botched that buy. God knows what happened with Thiago, but there's a guy who is what United needs now. Kagawa barely plays, and he would help tremendously if he got consistent time.
We've got money and deadweight. Stuff needed to happen this summer and it didn't. Not enough time to do a lot in January, and even Moyes said United wouldn't do business.
Rooney and RVP can only take you so far, and they both haven't played together a whole lot because of injuries and such.
It's just a mess. It'll be a fight just to get in the Top 4, and I think United needs to win at least a UCL tie or two for Moyes to hang around. But, then again, I'm going off of a lot of emotion at this point.

If Man U isn't in the Champions League and they don't fire Moyes, they deserve whatever Moyes brings them.
