Always forget the details. They spent a generation (maybe two) in Cuba, before coming to good ole Louisiana. My mom was the only one of 6 born in the States - born months after escaping Castro. Mami and Papi (grandparents) had to send their three oldest to orphanages here for a couple years before they made it out.
Anyway, yea. Mom's side is Cuban, of very recent Spanish descent. I grew up with Spanish as my primary language until the age of three.

Are you mestizo, or white? Not that it´s important, just wondering.

It's where their children were located. Alone. At a young age. They came as fast as they could.

Papi was Alonso. Mami was Perez Bango de Aguirrez. Is that right?
Texted my aunt for details. She probably won't respond till morning though.

Your blood is from the good part of Spain.

I'll have more information in the morning. Almost done with my 16 hours of Spanish for my degree. I'll be the first of the "American" generation to learn Spanish.

Then again, his Spanish blood is Celt, what you´d call that of a Braveheart, so part of him may react poorly to you pissing him off.
You decide.

Randy's comments got under my skin as well considering I'm essentially first generation American (ma was conceived in Cuba, though she was born in beautiful Alexandria
).

You should never be capped by the U.S.

Hey Les, no idea about areas to stay in. I don't really remember where I stayed last time I was there (I have really bad bearings as far as Paris is concerned- I've never actually lived there). Hostels are a better option, especially if traveling without family (just cheaper). You can even try couch surfing, which is essentially free.
