Listening to United States of Soccer. Jason Davis is stating that The Express is reporting that Ecuador is to be booted from the World Cup due to playing an ineligible player. Ecuador will be given 0-3 result for each game that he played. The results would not effect Peru but replace Chile directly for Ecuador.

He is also stating that their is some FIFA rule that may open the door for Italy instead. Something about the highest rated team replaces any team that can't participate.

As a US fan hoping to get out of Group B, I hope Italy is not Ecuador's replacement in Group A.

That's incredibly dumb. If Ecuador played ineligible players during qualification and therefore impacted COMNEBOL, then that's where the replacement team should come from.

Just retabulate the points in the table with every match Ecuador played the ineligible players turning into a 3-0 loss.
