During WC Final how often does the statistically favored team win?

I am preparing a project for a certification and I can do it on any subject, so I chose the Cup. I know that during the first 2 rounds of knockout play this year the favored team won every time, but that's actually a statistical anomaly, but I was unable to find a correlating statistic for the history of the cup. Anyone have an idea?
Thanks in advance.

Looks like you got a nice little independent variable/dependent variable set up right there.
So I would look up the favored teams, and then see who won.
In short, do your own damn homework, boy.
ETA: Uruguay was favored in 1930.

Not favored for the whole thing. Favored match by match. I already have stats on the overall favorite winning it all. I've read nearly 200 pages of stats but that particular one escapes me. I even tried betting websites.

Looking up past odds is impossible. I hate it. You're going to need to find a bookie, who might have that stuff stored in a database or something.

would be an interesting little logistic regression if you find anymore data let me know.
I'd be curious to run an analysis on it as well.

I found an interesting set of charts which basically took every world cup, assigned each team an ELO rating. And then looked at the overall winners. Not entirely accurate because they gave an arbitrary "home field" advantage. But pretty interesting. Charts

Is this true? You would think there would be a site dedicated to this kinda thing.

The Fark Board is the best place to ask for help on projects. Be sure to post a picture of yourself for inclusion in the project.

The British have a huge digital newspaper archive, but it cost money to access (though not to search), though I didn't look into institutional access
If you have time, I would just find someone at Ladbrokes to e-mail, or something
