Does Chelsea Keep Di Matteo?

I know there was speculation that they would search for someone new after the season as he was just a "temporary replacement." I would say he has earned the right to keep the head coaching job.

I say trot him out for another season and see what happens.
If he flounders have Abromovich slowjerk another 30 million out of his bank for Guardiola

He definitely deserves it.
Winning both the FA Cup and Champions League after the shite show that AVB was running???
That's incredible.

I agree. What he has done is nothing short of incredible. The man deserves a chance.

Might as well give it to him. Pep is gonna sit out a year then Chelsea can go all in for him.

RDM has done the impossible with this club. He needs to get a shot.

Well he's already accomplished more than any other Chelsea manager

ETA:Sounds like RDM is out if these comments are accurate, however a lot of chatter on the Chelsea board that RDM is being offered a 1 year trial. Is this to court Pep if it doesn't work without having to pay eleventy billion dollars to buy out another coach?
quote:
"Roman thinks Di Matteo has been very, very lucky and that he made a lot of mistakes in the games he's been in charge, with his tactics and selections," the source said. "The statistics in the two games against Barcelona and the final show just how lucky Di Matteo was. Roman has to decide this week and he will not care what the public thinks. Roman did not become a billionaire worrying about public opinion - he only cares about what is right for the club."

Avram Grant was a John Terry PK away from winning the champions league under similar circumstances

The difference between caretaker at Chelsea & "the man" at Chelsea is night & day. Managing with nothing to lose is liberating, to an extent. Managing as the guy who won the Champions League could wear heavy on RDM if things go a bit south.

Roman, Roman, Roman....I can't understand guys wanting to work for this guy, but, then, I'm not the most competitive of types. Everytime I see the Dish/DirecTV ad. with the Russian guy and the baby giraffe, I think Roman.

Mourinho just signed a 4 year extension.

It's a tricky situation.
A large part of me thinks though that RDM should thank his lucky stars and ride out with Didier as two of the biggest legends in Chelsea history and find a new challenge.
He certainly deserves it though. I'm glad I'm not making this decision.

If RDM is out then I think he deserves to give the middle finger
Also, if Roman keeps this up there will be fewer and fewer coaches wanting to be a part of the Chelsea organization.

This has been said for years and still the top managers line up for the job.

implying that Chelsea is the only club that sacks big name managers mid season....its a part of the business ( a stupid one I might add), but the heightened sense of urgency in European soccer makes any managerial job temporary at best

Chelsea takes it to the extreme.
You don't sack a manager that won the CL, nor do you threaten to do so. It's just stupid.
Yes, I understand that soccer is different than most American sports in respect to the fact that managers are more likely to be fired mid season.
Think back to LSU losing the NCG. People wanted Miles to lose his job for being an idiot RE: the QB situation. While I agree that Miles showed an incredible level of idiocy by picking Jefferson over Lee, you can't fire a coach who gets you to the NCG. It's just insane.
The CL is > the NCG in my opinion. Seriously, the fact that Roman is even considering replacing RDM at this point is just lunacy.
