Just saw it on ESPN FC. Black players in Italy should take note.

Potassium is good for cramp prevention. This is a case of fans inadvertently helping the opposition.

I hate the dude to the bottom of my blackened soul, but this was awesome. It's a fricking shame this continues to go on in this day and age.

I hate him but a quality move

I look forward to seeing Fifa dance around this issue and do nothing, Baltter has condemned it, so I imagine they think that is all that is needed

That's something that I'd be concerned about in the future if I was a player. Even if not poison, imagine if the fans had injected that banana with liquid laxative.

What exactly do you propose they do?

Not allow fans at the matches like they've done in Italy?

So punish players and 50,000 other people because of one idiot? Great solution.

It's not one idiot. If it was monkey noises wouldn't be made at virtually every stadium in Spain to almost every black player. Want it go stop? Go for the big punishment. It's fricking ridiculous that weekly there are reports of racism and not a damn thing is done about it

This is also not the first time a banana has been thrown on the pitch

Ok, so punish the players and owners and 50,000 fans because of a few idiots?

How has it worked getting rid of racism in Italy?

I don't think it's because of racism in Italy. I think it's because of violence.

Look, I'm not saying it's the best solution, but you asked what could they do and I answered. Someone needs to do something. Maybe it'll come down to sponsors pulling out and hurting the (already hurting) clubs in their pocketbooks.

I read yesterday that it was a planned move as part of a way to kick off a new anti-racism campaign. Certain players had agreed that the next time a banana was thrown on the field in their vicinity they would pick it up and eat it. That action would be the impetus for a new campaign. Neymar's picture stating "we are all monkeys" was pre-made and was posted shortly after the incident as part of the campaign as well.
