Clearing the ball and playing chase is stupid soccer and the girl's would cut it out with ease.

This long ball philosophy still has to have some buildup play behind it, and there still has to be something at the end of it. That's where I think the boys would get taken apart.

You can 'sit your back line in front of goal' but then what happens when they get the ball? How do they work it out far enough to make something happen? They will frick up somewhere in there, which would compromise your whole defensive strategy.

when i was in HS the girls team who was state runner up twice played in the boy intramural league in their off season b/c they all played AAU together and where one of the best teams in the DC area. We ran them off the court i think they won one game all season long in a HS intramural league

You have just failed every USSF and NSCAA coaching course.

this isn't a normal game

this is a game where you're playign an exceptionally slow and small opponent with no strength. however that other team has a much higher advanced skill level

you play off to minimize the effectiveness of the runs. you don't leave the box b/c crosses are not a threat

basically the girls will have to thread passes and make runs with 7-8 vastly superior athletes in the box

I bet you're one of those guys who thinks the UCONN women could beat some of the men's basketball teams.

how? as long as the boys have a guy who can clear it past midfield, the girls would have to keep 4-5 players WAAY back at all times so that they didn't get outrun/boxed out of the long balls

They just play zonal and cut it out. Men aren't going to connect on 60 yrd. bombs at the high school level.

They don't have to. They just need to kick it in a place where their players can run to it.

i'm not saying they'll have % of success

but all it will take is 1 to win, likely

So you're telling me 4 women on the backline that have to cover half the space of 2 attacking players can't cut out an inaccurate 60 yd. bomb? Hell even an accurate ball played from that distance is easy to deal with.

exactly

now if the women's back line plays WAY back in their 1/3? ok the guys might not be able to do much of anything

but the women aren't going to score shite with 6 attackers against 7-8 defenders without the option of crossing the ball in to score

you're severely underestimating their strength and speed. Compared to HS boys (not football players who constantly work to develop their physical attributes), they aren't far off if not better in most ways. These are the best of the best. Not a college team, or a group of HS all stars. I've worked out with some of these girls before, and they're not just girls who pick daisies until it's time for play. They're actually pretty sick athletes.

I can tell you, they won't have any success and that the women would carve up a HS's back line with dynamic runs and sound technical passing.

The back 4 would have no idea who to pass off who to.

they'll be able to handle it the vast majority of the time. nobody is saying this will be % soccer

if a defender plays 1-2 steps too far up she'll get burnt like a motherfricker and you'll have 1 on 1 (possibly 2 on 1)

You're making it sound like high school soccer players never started playing until they were 14. These kids aren't clueless about soccer. They may not have the best technical skill, but they have some ability.

Slow, this isn't the EPL brah. Those 60 yrd bombs are going out of bounds 50% of the time too.

The technical gap is enormous my man. Way too much for athleticism to overcome.

I think there are different levels of high school teams. I'm pretty sure the soccer team from my high school back when I went would have got beaten very easily by a women's WC team.

I'm telling you, the men are clueless when it comes to defending those runs. Even at 18.

Gmorgan, 2009-2010 Jesuit High who was a legit national #1 beating Florida's best and carrying 31 club players on their varsity squad would be carved up.
