Jorginho isn't very valuable unless he's operating as a regista in a midfield that's found all the right balance. So, he's not very valuable to us at all.

It’s Frank you should be mad at. He cannot find his best XI after all of the changes. I think it will come with time but how far will we slide down the standings before he finds his best side?

Ultimately this game meant nothing and got Chilly and Mendy in action which is valuable. I am concerned about the mentality of this team that cannot hold a damn lead though.

He can't field his best XI because half of them are pussies out months with minor strains.

shite talk Mount all you want at least he shows up to play every week.

You mean slowly jogging toward your man when he's completely unmarked on the back post with an obvious cross incoming is not the proper way to defend? I mean maybe we should give him a break, he had been on the pitch for like 10 min. maybe he was too exhausted.

The only thing that is sustaining my sanity is that I have yet to see a side consisting of Werner/Ziyech/Havertz/Pulisic/Kovacic/Kante/James/Chilwell and CBs TBD. If we're still looking like crap then, oh well.

I don't think it's that he can't find his Best XI. He just hasn't had the chance to yet. He's trying to piece together an XI with different formations, seeing how two guys might link up while the third and fourth guys are recovering, etc. But at this point, there are definite conclusions we can draw.

We know Thiago is going to start at CB. He made a bad mistake in the WBA game. He'll put it behind him. Now, you simply have to put someone next to him and let them build a partnership. All the other options are underwhelming. If you have a gut instinct on who complements Thiago best, put him in and go with it unless there's truly catastrophe. We also know that the deeper areas of midfield should be occupied by Kovacic and Kante currently. There's no case for Jorginho. Not one. Maybe Gilmour will provide more balance at some point. Right now, it's Kante and Kovacic and whichever of Mount/Havertz you want to push further up the pitch.

In other words, there's no excuse to not see

-------Mendy------
Reece-TS---CB2-Chilwell
---Kante---Kovacic

That should be set in stone going forward. When Ziyech and Pulisic are fit, you can determine the front 4. I'm not worried about them, though. We won't have issues scoring.

Pulisic and Ziyech haven't even played a competitive match yet this season

I know we lost but it still doesn’t change my stance from the other day. CHO should have played Tammy in there for an easy goal. The opportunities are there, we just need to get on the same page. As you point out, it’s difficult when the squad is different every week.

I’m not worried even a little bit. Plus not having these cup matches anymore now gives us some extra time to rest and recover between fixtures.

Werner is settling nicely. I haven’t felt this good about striker since Diego Costa.

Werner looks great. When the hell are we selling Emerson? I thought he was high on Inter’s list? He’s awful- I knew when he came in Blues would allow the equalizer.

He's probably staying now that Alonso and Lampard hate each other.

If what I read is true and that Mount has played every minute so far this season, perhaps he’ll be a scratch for CP on Saturday due to fatigue. One can dream.

Mount plays every minute because everyone else that plays his position has a vag problem

Fair enough, but Mount is not a 10, and he’s not a winger. When their boo boos heal, Lamps Jr is an 8.

Mount definitely operates as a 10. The traditional 10 doesn't exist in every team. In Lampard's system, Mount is operating a similar role as Wijnaldum has done for Liverpool. He'll be absolutely elite there in a couple years.

Mount playing that deeper role would be a death sentence for our midfield. There'd be zero balance.

According to The Transfer Window Podcast, Chelsea are set to offer both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Rudiger on loan to West Ham as part of the Rice pursuit.

Writing is on the wall for RLC and Rudiger hasn’t seen the pitch yet.

Per SI, West Ham have no intention of selling Chelsea target Declan Rice this transfer window. Are Roman and Marina planning a Don Corleone move?

quote:

West Ham have set their stance on midfielder Declan Rice as Chelsea continue to show interest.

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge this summer, however West Ham have remained firm in their position of Rice.

Frank Lampard has been a keen admirer of the versatile English international, who would improve Chelsea's problems defensively, being able to play both at centre-back and in the defensive midfield role.

As per Simon Stoney, West Ham have reiterated that Rice will not be leaving the Hammers before October 5 when the deadline shuts.
