Because in that XI, we've also bought Sancho and Havertz, both of whom are significantly better than Pulisic.

I don’t think Chelsea gets neither Sancho nor Havertz, and they’ve invested too much in Pulisic to find his replacement at this time anyway.

But if Werner plays on the wing, we still have depth issues at striker. If he plays at ST then we still have depth issues on the wing. Mount is not a winger and we’re losing Pedro and willian.

Ziyech
Pulisic
CHO
?

Werner
Abraham
Giroud
?

Depending on where Werner lines up we need either another winger or another striker. I think we look to sign another winger. Mount isn’t the solution there, not in a 433 anyway.

Pedro is definitely gone but I thought Willian is here for another year? Rather have Chilwell than anyone else right now to shore up the back line.

no, both Willian and Pedro out of contract at the end of the June. which is interesting because we will still be playing games then. they could both really screw us over. its at least a possibility.

I think the club would love to solve this problem with a 1yr extension for willian. I’d love this too. Problem is willian wants at least a 2yr deal.

We need an upgrade to the back 4 yes, but at least we have plenty of depth there. If/when Pedro and willian leave we are starving for players out wide. We’d be going into pl, cL, and domestic cups with recovering Cho and pulisic along with ziyech and Werner in a pinch for depth? It’s not enough imo.

Maybe we have some more youth players coming through up front? At this point I see wingers as a priority over defenders, despite the need for both.

tino anjorin just resigned, he made a brief debut against everton in March. not a traditional winger, but another attacking minded player who can fill in a number of spots.

we have 3 true wingers plus Werner and then Mount as 5th choice who have experience as inside forwards. we either shoot the moon and go for another top player who will enter the mix (leaving CHO odd man out i would imagine) or look to sign someone who knows they will likely be 4th or 5th choice.

I wouldnt be mad at option 1, adding Sancho would be huge. but option 2 seems like a waste, and i dont think we find someone better than mount to be 4th/5th wing option.

obviously a long term injury to a st AND winger at the same time will frick us, but so will staying complacent with our defense. a better LB and eventually an upgrade at CB just has to happen. Our CB depth is fine, but of questionable quality.

Yeah I think we just have too many problems to solve in a single window. It’s now or never for Sancho though I’m afraid.

I just don’t see y’all making 3/4 big winger signings in a row (Pulisic, Ziyech, Sancho, +/- Wenger).

Forget the fullbacks let’s go to a 3-5-2

Kepa
James Rudiger Dave
Kovacic Kante
Ziyech Mount Pulisic
Werner Abraham

Offense is the best form of defense after all.

This team would get absolutely abused on set pieces. We'd never score a corner and we'd concede from every free kick an opponent takes in our half

Also ziyech and Pulisic are not wing backs

Couldn’t be any worse than our set piece defending from last year

Damn y’all are painting a bleak picture. And I was really excited about finishing the season strong. Kepa will need to play out of his arse.

Pulisic gonna get buried on the bench next season.

Who the hell downvoted this?

Probably not. But I do expect him to miss time with injuries.

I don't really see how. Ziyech and Werner are clearly better than him, maybe Tammy (not same position but if he starts and Werner plays on the wing it affects Pulisic). Pulisic was behind CHO and Mount in terms of favor early on, but he surpassed them before he got injured. He probably starts and at worst, he's the first guy off the bench at one of the world's biggest clubs.
