Courtois looked anything but world class today, getting nutmeged twice. That said, our inability to score made that woeful display of goalkeeping somewhat a moot point.
This will likely be a difficult few months of watching Blues football.

Yea scariest part is that might be our last CL game for a while unless we can pull off something crazy down the stretch.

I have a lot of takeaways.
1. Thibaut needs to go. I think he's a quality GK. He's capable of being one of the 5 or 10 best in the world. But he hasn't been lately. He's checked out. He can't stop talking about other clubs. Let him leave. Sell him while you can get a lot and buy a guy who is hungry to prove himself like Baby Gigi.
2. Defensively, I think we have some decisions to make. There are no guarantees we'll be playing a formation with wing backs next year. Moses is not good enough as a RWB. He certainly won't be good enough as a regular RB. On the other side, I don't think Alonso has the defensive qualities necessary to play LB. I think we'll be fine in the center with Christensen, Rudiger, Zouma, etc. A lot of young talent. Growing pains will show at times, but I feel confident there.
3. The midfield is a mess. N'Golo pretty much does all the defensive work by himself. The guy (or guys if we go 352) have been so mediocre. They don't do the defensive work or they don't provide anything going forward or both. We desperately need a dynamic midfielder(s) to play next to N'Golo who provide something going forward. This team has plenty of issues, but this one is by far the biggest.
4. I honestly don't know what to make of our wide options. Eden is surely going. There's no way he wants to put up with this, and I don't blame him. I'd be okay with losing him if I trusted our board to invest in a world class talent to replace him. Eden is magnificent, but he also frustrates. I just feel like we're trapped because I don't know who you replace him with. Pedro and Willian will be 31 and 30 at the start of next season. We should really be thinking about the future here.
5. I actually like our striking options. I don't want to count on Giroud every week, but I like his game a lot. I think he's an excellent squad player. I also think Morata comes good. I think it was probably a little unrealistic to assume the guy who had only played as a sub or sparingly (with a great return) would score 30 goals and start 40-50 matches. I'm not done with him just yet. I also think Michy is showing he is a really great striker at Dortmund right now. He's just so poorly suited for Conte's system. Under a new manager I think he could be a really awesome player for us.

Yea it's hard to project without knowing who the new manager is going to be, assuming it's not Conte, but there are several players who don't fit into any system for a team with high aspirations.
Hopefully we could use the money from a potential Courtois/Hazard sell to get that dynamic central midfielder and a quality wide player.
We need to get what we can for the Drinkwater's/Barkley's and just pretend that never happened.
How has Loftus-Cheek looked on his loan spell?

Pretty well from what i lve been seeing. I do remember seeing him play closer to goal as a withdrawn ST, or even on the wing tucking in. Palace started him in midfield but slowly moved him up.
I dont think hes gonna he the midfielder we all think he should be, but could still be a quality player if his position gets ironed out.

Kennedy is on loan and he has been playing really well.

It's funny how players look better when they're played in their natural position.

Fairwell belgian prince. I’m headed to the Liverpool game in May to see him play at the bridge one last time

Yeah, I know the feeling.

Nice win over Leicester City. Also, a big thanks should go to Petr Cech and Zola for "picking" the FA Cup semi-final draw with Southampton. :-)

Seems as though real has backed off wanting Eden. Any updates?

I obviously want him to stay but would be interested to see how he would do there.
He's so good when he wants to be but has way too many spells of meh. Though they keep trotting out Benzema so obviously that's not something they are opposed to.

Alright boys we need to seriously get the frick up and get some points Sunday. Tottenham tried to legitimately career end half our team last season, let’s put salt in another wound. frick them. If you hate Tottenham stand up

I want Willian to score a hat trick so much.

i think Conte quit after the mini-revolt following the City match. there was some reports that he had asked the team how theyd rather play in the aftermath, which i thought sounded reasonable and like a manager willing to listen.
but now i think it just means he said "frick this, yall do what you want. im outta here soon anyway."

I’m broken. Hopefully I’m being overly dramatic but I don’t see a solution to our issues that doesn’t involve a major overhaul and at least 2-3 seasons of hoping for top 4 at best. Even worse I'm not sure Roman has the desire or means to really see it through.

Nah, i think youre spot on.
Either we overpay for a quick influx of players in their prime, or the board gets a cohesive plan on place and hires a manager that matched that vision.
I dont see either one happening smoothly.

Randy's right. This club is in big trouble. Running through managers was never a sustainable model. It's worked until now because we were spending as much or more than everyone. Now we're not buying the same quality of players and still expecting our manager to win on every front. Why would anyone want to come coach at Chelsea? "We will buy almost nobody you want, but you should be able to beat everybody. Sound good?"

Only hope for next year is that arsenal dont change managers and Poch leaves along with one of kane, dele, and erikson. Maybe salah goes to barca. 3rd yr Mou ruins ManU.
Then we back in this shite!
