Once you get to a level where you are winning silverware year in and year out and are on top wages, the club list you would want to move to becomes very very small.

Well clearly, but the two go hand in hand. The reason they win silverware every year is because they have those players. It's a big circle.

Edited bc iphones are Stupid:

del Piero is a giant exception. There aren't many like him in the world.

And while arsenal have been trophy-less recently they're far from "middle of the table"

All I'm saying is that if RVP was on top wages at Arsenal, had won multiple league titles, multiple FA Cups and the Champions League, I doubt he would have left. Del Piero exemplifies true loyalty. It is very rare to find someone like that.

And nowhere did I say Arsenal was middle of the table

Ah, I misread what you said about "mid-table one club" guys...for some reason i read it as Arsenal was midtable and Van Persie was the one guy.

Which would have been blasphemous

The Baggies told him he has to fight for a spot. I honestly don't see him being a regular starter, but he may. I just don't think the kid is ready for the EPL. I'm really not sure why we bought him. He should have fired his agent, because he was fed some bad info.

At the beginning of the 11th round, no big deal if he falls through.

So basically just like the American media?

Anyhow, back to Arsenal. Like you mentioned Arsenal, despite consistently losing all their best players, still remain very competitive. Imagine if all those guys had stayed? Surely the trophies would have followed. Which begs the question, with such an amazing nucleus of young talent set up to be a English and European power for years to come why did they all bail?

Impatience.

I feel bad for Arsene. He had a fantastic core built for one last run before he retired and they all left him. Fabregas wanted to go home, Nasri is a money-grabbing count, RVP was the last one left and I think he just wants to win at this point (Arsenal would have come close to matching his wages at United) and Wilshere is made of glass.

We had too many important players at a young age. There were no Artetas or the like to help balance out the team. It lead to us not having bottle I guess you could say. We shrunk on the big occasions. That and the fact the once one player would leave we would replace with lesser quality. Slowly but surely the only real class players left one by one. That and the fact that we didn't have the money to compete with other clubs when they came up to our guys promising trophies which we couldn't.
