One was a pretty clean cut penalty

Mane was shoved out of the box with a ball over the top coming towards him.

But, according to the announcer at that time, "the referee will not call that at that point in the game".

So it was a penalty, but because it was early in the game you don't call it.

Liverpool was through at least twice when they weren't offside and they were called offside (and, to be fair, so were Roma).

So please for god's sake don't make excuses for this result by implying that Roma got the shaft. You're smarter than that.

Their right side sucks. Ribery running at whoever they had at RB, Vasquez or Carvajal, resulted in an alarming amount of goalmouth chances. Marcelo is still a great LB, and his individual talent helps him out 1 v 1 a lot.

They have balance issues like other teams, but the difference is they somehow keep winning even though they look terrible doing it.

Yeah, I don't get it.

He ain't world-class, I get it.

But he's a leader and, as far as I can see, sometimes comes up with performance gems and again, as far as I can see, hasn't blatantly cost us a match. Has he had average-to-bad matches? Yeah... usually around the same time the rest of the squad is doing the same thing.

Both teams are clearly good, but they also seem a step down from other CL finalists in previous years

I don't feel like that's all that controversial a statement. I don't think they could beat any of the previous finalists since 2012.

He’s not a quality box to box midfield player either

Madrid is going to target him

He runs hard that’s about all I got

When I got to see him play in person it was pretty obvious how bad he can be, especially for England.

I'm not suggesting I think Madrid will wipe the floor or anything. Just commenting on the quality of the teams relative to previous finalists. Pool could win, and Klopp's teams seem to do a good job of imposing their game onto teams. Getting Salah the ball in 1 v 1 situations would put a lot of pressure on Madrid just like the reciprocal situation with Ronaldo would do to Pool. It feels like Madrid's experience is helping them see out games. But anything can happen in one-off games.

It’s a one off and anything can happen

But the midfield battle in the final is what can really hurt Liverpool

Not saying you are... just happy to be in a UCL final and ready to give those frickers all we have... they will let us play and our front 3 has a chance against anyone...

We were far from the best on ‘05
