Why was Silva benched?

Either Emery outsmarted himself (likely) or there's some issue they're keeping hush hush. Makes no sense, he's the capitain and Mr. PSG at this point.

City dominated on the road
PSG struggled with an extremely out of form Madrid side with Benzema leading the line

PSG struggled
They only managed one goal on a weak Madrid defense that was missing their starting right back.
We need to push for an early goal in the first 15-20 minutes in Paris, then just sit back and defend the rest of the match. Maybe have Ramos follow Neymar around blowing in his ear Lance Stephenson style to get him all pissy.

"Dominated" Basel. Look out!
My bad guys, forgot that YUGE Semi final you guys made that one year and still flex your nuts on.
Still get dropped from the round of 16 like its their job.

I think they did pretty good knocking the crap out of him for the first 6 minutes of the game.

Imagine spending over 200m on a player who I don't know if I saw him touch the ball in the second half.

A team that lost to Basel is ahead of Liverpool in the league table.

granted it was a throw away game for us, knowing we just had to beat them or CSKA to win the group

Yes, you are
If PSG drew Porto and lost then flame away. Very unlucky to draw the 2 time defending CL champions in R16 and it would be no disgrace to go out to them. Yes RM has been out of form, but PSG was the better team for ~80 minutes of the match before Madrid went to their Madrid gear that has made them one of the 2 best teams in the world for so many years.
Saying a group of players has to win the Champions League to be considered successful, especially in the Ronaldo/Messi era, is not a fair standard. Not saying the statement of intent doesn't invite expectations, and yes if they go out it will be a disappointment, but most in the English speaking soccer world go way too far in their other direction. I get it, the English don't like the French and the American soccer media often takes their cue from their English counterparts on UEFA matters, so PSG are held out to this unfair standard. Just try to use your head about what is and isn't a reasonable expectation.

Well look who they have gone out to:
Barca
Chelsea
Barca
City
Barca
(Possibly) Madrid
Of those, losing to City in the QF's 2 years ago was the 1 true disappointment. Chelsea in 2014 was tough, though the squad wasn't all the way built yet, they played their hearts out, and also got a bit unlucky. Obviously the WAY they lost to Barca last year was rough, though anyone who watched the game knows how bad the officiating was. Even so, they should have gone through after what happened in the first leg, not going to dispute that.
Of course it will be a disappointment, a big disappointment even, if they go out again. But when you're running into the 2 giants in the game right now on a regular basis it's really really tough. It doesn't matter how much money you spend when it's Messi or Ronaldo on the other side.

Bitch you have the 3rd best player in the world and spent half a billion pounds in one summer adding to an already loaded squad.
There literally is no excuses anymore.
