Can somebody tell me why the US doesn't use trainers?

I am not talking about medical staff or a conditioning guy.

I'm talking about someone that trains players to increase their technical ability and touch, physicality, and ability to control the ball.

I see the USMNT trying to play possession ball(sort of) but they dont have the touch or ability to control the ball. They give the ball away with bad touch or pass. We have a coach, and a bunch of paper pushing assistants. Where's the guy fine tuning the players' skills?

When we reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup, Martin Vasquez was the trainer. They had control of the ball and could compete with a much higher level of teams. This goes all the way down to youth level, where I dont see trainers at all.

What gives?

No, and therein lies the problem I'm talking about. A coach manages the game and installs his system, instructing the players. The trainer makes the players coachable, developing their ability to execute what is coached.

What you are asking starts very early in development. These are not really things a USMNT manager or a manager for a club does.

The coaches that did this are U12 if not younger. If you don’t already have technical ability by the time you are professional then it’s likely they will never develop.

Maybe your son should apply for the position.

The rest of the world disagrees with this.

Yes, players SHOULD be developed by then, but development never stops.

It doesn't stop, but it is super rare for players to develop technical skills into their teens. The things that develop after that are athletic ability, tactical awareness, and professional development. And the technical ability isn't set in stone, per se, but the degrees it can improve are apparently so small that I don't know of a European club at the senior level or at the youth level that has a "trainer" specifically.

Or those 5 training days they get every 2-3 months.

Barcelona says hello.

You would be surprised at how much can be learned in a short period of time with focus and repetition... even 18-25 year olds.

How much are you going to learn in one practice session? Because that is all the time they would have.
