Barcelona wins the first UEFA Youth League

Man of the match Munir El Haddadi.
The striker from Madrid, of Moroccan descent, set up the first and scored the others, the second from his own half. Benfica missed a penalty.
Barcelona took the inaugural UEFA Youth League title, beating Benfica 0-3 in Nyon. The Catalan side went ahead early (9 minutes) with a goal from Rodrigo Tarín after fine play from Munir El Haddadi. Their first attack, and it paid off.
The reply from the Portuguese, physically potent, wasn’t long coming and five minutes later they won a penalty, given away by Godswill. Baldé though thumped the spot-kick off the cross-bar. After a period of balanced play it was Barça who doubled their lead, Adama Taoré’s genius setting up El Haddadi who fired home.
In the second half Barcelona sat back and Benfica could have cut the difference through a Baldé shot, which Ondoa saved. However Barcelona, on the counter, had a number of chances to extend their lead.
And they did so in the 87th minute, when the left-footed El Haddadi, man of the match and the tournament, scored a wonder goal from his own half. The ball flew over 50 meters to hit the back of Graça’s net, with the keeper only able to run back and watch as the ball went over his head.

Villa win the next gen series then it gets ablolished and im pretty sure we werent invited to this.

The UEFA Youth League is the first youth competition at club level and has been established following requests made by clubs via the European Club Association. The 2013/14 season is its first edition.
Group stage
Access to the competition is reserved for the youth teams of the 32 participating clubs in the UEFA Champions League group stage. The teams will play a group phase with the same group composition and similar calendar as the UEFA Champions League.
Knockout rounds and final
The knockout phase will be of single-leg ties, meaning maximum total of ten matches for any team, with the semi-finals and final played in the form of a final tournament at the Colovray stadium, Nyon, Switzerland. There will be no third-place play-off game.

I watched some of the game last week and over the weekend. They are good its awesome seeing youth players on some of these teams who played in the champions league then back on the youth team.

I honestly have no idea what age group this entailed. I just saw "youth"

Next Gen was basically the same for u19s but done by invitation, it had people like PSG, Chelsea, Barca, Ajax, Inter etc. and Villa won. Just a shame that our youngsters miss out on an elite competition because of the quality of the first team
