It would be really cool if Neuer won it. I am still convinced the Ballon d'Or is nothing more than a popularity contest.

Right, wrong, Like it, or not it will be a cold day in Hell for that to happen.
I mean you can make a case for other people as the best player in the world without a doubt....but can you make a case stronger for anyone than Ronaldo for the 13-14 campaign (include up to this point in 14-15 if you want as well)?
The real debate here is who is coach of the year...Ancelloti, Loew, or Simeone?

If you want to debate Lahm in this argument for player that is fine...I feel like we have done that before. It is a valid argument, but a pure defensive player is going to be hard pressed to win this. It is what it is. Although I'd almost agree that Lahm should be in the 3 over Messi.....Messi's WC performance appears to have a lot of weight here.

As it should.

True...I won't start the pissing match of importance between domestic leagues, European Club comps, and international comps.

Lahm went from best right back in the world to one of the best pivots in the world in a matter of weeks. What a legend that guy is.
Give the award to Neuer. He's revolutionizing the keeper position.

This comes from your heart not your head I'm certain.

Also look at the back lines that Neuer plays with for club and country.....the man has been quoted as saying he gets bored sometimes. Anyone would probably try to do the creative stuff he does possessing and passing the ball too if they were bored.

Manuel says he gets bored because he wants to be a midfielder. You can't really believe that last sentence.

By doing what every Celtic keeper has done for the last 20 years?

Come on now....he plays for the best club and international back lines in the world.

Did you miss "try"?

It's not really as simple as saying he has a good back line. He's an extension of the backline. They wouldn't be able to play the way they do if they didn't have a keeper like Neuer.

Agreed....but I'd like to know (to lazy to google right now) the number of shots on goal he has faced vs the number of shots on goal that Casillas has faced. If I had to guess I'd say Casillas is much higher.
