Rosicky, Ramsey... Arshavin...? Traore...? I don't know if he's equipped to play DM, I somehow doubt it, but our lack of defensive personnel is worrying.

We could go 4-4-2. It's highly likely that Man U will go with the same formation. If we retain the 4-3-3, my guess is that Eastmond gets a chance (again) or Coquelin, if he's back and fit. Lansbury could slot in there though he isn't a defensive player. We could possibly play Djourou at DM with Miquel behind him. Lots of interesting selection possibilities.

Coquelin just got back from the U-20 WC last week I believe. He might be in contention. Lansbury surely has to get a look. I bet Rosicky starts.

I actually like our chances more than I probably should.
1) No Vidic or Ferdinand, RvP's gotta be salivating
2) Their young players aren't as inspiring as folks are making them out to be, or at least there's not enough evidence to have concrete faith in them yet. Tottenham, although they kept composed in the first half, simply looked dismal from then on. However Di Natale's goal looked similar to the one's Rooney and Welbeck scored -- defender leaves 5 feet of space on a free header. We need to tighten the frick up on coverage.
3) The win against Udi has to be a huge psychological platform to spring from.
4) We had a similarly depleted side last year when we beat them. Granted it was at home. But I also like how we've had 2 testy away fixtures where we looked pretty confident.

I don't think Eastmond is back from his broken ankle yet. I'd love to see Coquelin get a shot. He actually has more big game and top level experience than Frimpong. Like you said though, who knows. A lot of different ways Wenger can go with selections.

I'm not sure who is better right now, Frimpong or Coquelin, just as I'm not sure who is better right now between Bartley and Miquel. Frimpong is such a good tackler, and so strong, but is not a great passer yet. Coquelin has the better technique, and is probably a better passer, more mobile, but definitely isn't as strong.
If the M'vila rumors are true, I wonder what that does to Frimpong and Coquelin. What does that mean for Diaby?

Yeah, seems like we're really pushing for him now, raising our chips to 22 million. I would think that would mean that Diaby would the Fabianski of our midfield: pure cover and unexpected to make appearances aside from our more middling fixtures. (or maybe I'm just cynical and he'll figure importantly for us once he returns from health. But his name alone makes me sour up like a lemon)
I also wonder if that move is angling to free up Song as a b2b midfielder like stretches of last season. His form there seemed up and down, but he's a good enough passer of the ball to at least be serviceable.
It also tells me that since M'Vila is a recurring target, or first priority, that I wonder if we're looking for anyone at CAM playmaker or if Wenger is just planning to let Jack be the star there.

Diaby has actually developed into a decent option as a utility midfielder. He can play AM, B2B, DM with varying degrees of skill depending on his mental fortitude that day. He's a useful player to have as a back-up.
M'vila seems like the player that Wenger wanted Denilson to become. A physical DM who also has the ability to move the ball quickly, not a playmaker in the same sense as Jack, but someone who can recycle possession as the vertex in a midfield three. M'vila would allow us to play both a 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 fairly fluidly, and would free up Jack to move further up the pitch.
I hope not. Song is most useful when he plays like he did in the 2nd half against Udinese yesterday, almost like a third CB. He was superb. He's a good passer, a good dribbler, but he's not fast enough to play the B2B role. His lack of pace is obvious, and I'd rather he play a more reserved role.

Also M'vila excels at winning the second ball by being good positionally. That was one area, along with short passing, Denilson was excellent at. I'd like to have that sort of option again, especially when paired with someone good in the air.
