I know the draw is tomorrow but does anyone know off-hand who our potential matchups in the semifinals are? We can't be drawn with Citeh until the finals correct?

The semifinals are Arsenal-Wigan and Hull-Sheffield. How much pressure is on us now that City is out?

Technically it's Wigan-Arsenal.

Feels like the first time in awhile the we haven't been in an out and out race for the 4th spot and that all important CL place while still competing for late season silverware. It'll be interesting to see who Wenger calls on for Wigan but we should beat Wigan even without the entire first time lineup, regardless of their result against manc today.
ETA: We have to win the Cup this year IMO, and I think we will. Not really any excuses at this point though.

Congrats on the silverware this year, Arsenal fans.
Good job on working backwards through the tournament.
And yes, I'm already counting you guys as the winners.

I've never stated giroud is better. I said Suarez is far from perfect because his antics. The Liverpool guy is just mad I said that. People are bitching we don have Suarez, well we got ozil instead and our midfield got thin quick.

Suarez's antics have always been overrated. Unless they result in suspension, which to be fair it has a few times, they donn't diminish his on the pitch performance or team chemistry. It helps when you're far and away the best player on your team. Even his suspicions are more than balanced out by the fact that he never gets hurt so he still probably plays more games on average than most forwards.
He's not even as bad as guys like Cantona and Keane were. I'd argue that Rooney and RvP are just as bad in their own way. Vieira was a count for arsenal back in the day. It's exacerbated bc he looks and acts so South American, and those South Americans are a shifty bunch

I'm so mad a gooner doesn't like my precious Luis. Suarez is the most complete player in the league (Rooney is a close second imo). Ozil is a great player, but he can't carry a team like a Suarez can. As you've seen, he only succeeds in certain tactical structures. And when he isn't in that system, he goes missing.
As Liverpool have shown, you can compete with a stellar forward, a decent midfield and a terrible defense. As Arsenal have shown, you can struggle with a stellar midfield, good defense and a decent forward.
yes i know injuries play a part. just adds more credibility to suarez really.

I don't know about struggling. I mean we have, lately, sure, but over the course of the season I'm impressed that this team has been able to compete as well as it has. No one thought we would be in title contention even after we bought Ozil. 'Pool's play has been the biggest surprise of the season, but both teams have overachieved significantly this season, at least with respect to the predictions.

So I just watched the Everton game. The score line flattered us. Barkley is a great dribbler, and has a good frame, but has to improve his decision making. He's like Wilshere in that he's so good with the ball at his feet that he holds onto it too long, and loses opportunities. I'd still love it if we could somehow buy him. With some development he'd be an excellent no.10 but the last thing we need is a no.10 in truth.
I hope Sanogo's emergence doesn't stop Wenger from buying in the summer. With Ox we have a wide player who will make space, but we need another. I'd like a player like Griezemann, but Laccazette from Lyon has done well this season. I don't imagine he'll be much cheaper though. Basically we need a space maker for Ozil on the pitch with him at all times.
Also Arteta plays so much better further forward when paired with Flamini. A real defensive mid can help get the most out of him too.
I think Ox should start every match. Love his strength and energy.

Was it the convo we had where we talked about feelings and stuff? That shite was some of the most original...stuff since the famed 'Pool meltdown thread. This offseason promises to be action packed, but we have that sweet 3 week window where the slow trickle of news will allow to us to...umm...express ourselves. It would be especially interesting if we could frame it as if a soccer discussion, like a tactics thread that works both as soccer and dating advice. WE COULD BE SITTING ON A GOLDMINE!
I just found it and I can't believe people didn't want to spend money on Suarez.

See I come in and defense Suarez and then pool fans still want to pull shite like saying they're competing and arsenal are struggling.
We're tied on points in the league, we've beaten pool 2 out of 3 times, played close to 15 extra games due to other competitions than pool, and we've done all this while losing the epl player of the year up to that point in December, as well as our most dangerous attacking player, Walcott, playing about 8 games all season.

On weekdays I just sit in my apartment in Seoul at night and watch soccer matches/read soccer news. And play pokemon on my 3ds xl (best purchase evarrr).
So yea. This summer will have entertaining dialogue.

Don't take shite so personal. It wasn't about Liverpool or Arsenal. It was about Suarez vs. Ozil. I don't think Liverpool is a better team than Arsenal, and I don't think Liverpool are "competing" better than Arsenal.

it's going to be an interesting rest of the month with Bayern, @ Spurs, @ Chelsea, Swansea squeezed in mid-week, and then City. word is Rambo and Kallstrom will be back for the NLD. the rambo-arteta partnership was the key to our strong finish last year. hopefully it can take us home this year as well.
i agree with you, crazy. i think we need to start Ox or Gnabry every match. Ox probably can't start every one for fitness reasons, but we need one player with pace to open things up, especially with Ozil. he's gotten so many penalties for us. such a dangerous player.
