the thought might be, monreal or gibbs at LW, Jack moves to the right. or gnabry might be involved. or ryo. should be interesting.
akpom won't start a CL match. he was just a body when we have none.

Ah yeah forgot about Gnabry. You're probably right about that.

Giroud and Ozil fit for tomorrow (*cough* glass *cough*)
Isaac Hayden and Akpom are in the 18 man squad.
Gnabry (
) and Frimpong are not.
I honestly would like to know what Wenger sees in Ryo that impresses him more than Gnabry. Ryo might be the better prospect because of his speed and dribbling, but he hasn't really put it together much on the field as of yet. Gnabry impressed in preseason and has been killing it in the U21s.

Just looking at those five attacking players makes me smile.
Can't wait for tomorrow.

Roy did have a very successful loan spell at Feyenoord and Bolton. If not for injuries he would be a rotation goin now. Gnabry is a promising prospect, but he lacks seasoning. He should be loaned out.

Gbabry looks miles better in every match I've seen both of them in but I'll withhold judgment until I see them play with the first team
Posted on 9/17/13 at 11:59 am to Jumbeauxlaya
We are going to need one of them to step up and provide the team with some solid play, especially during cup ties.

i recall him being promising at Feyenoord, though the Dutch league is not a reliable indicator. He was solid at Bolton on a bad team. Sucks he lost a year.
Gnabry just seems physically more ready (which is odd considering how long Ryo has been in England) and has been more impressive on the pitch. Preseason is preseason, hard to gauge much on that. It seems like Ryo should be dominating in U21 play though, which he hasn't in the couple of matches he's played this season. Gnabry has been on fire and has scored on some incredible volleys in the past week. Just feel like he's really in form and ready to seize an opportunity. Ryo is still recovering from his injury and struggling to find his form, it seems.

Yep. He was out for a long time. He's still months away from contributing. His ceiling is incredibly high as well.
Gnabry is a promising player, but is he better than any of our current wide players? I really like him, and want to see him play, but Wenger's record with young players is pretty spotless. Gnabry is a better technical player than someone like Walcott, but Walcott was contributing as a 17 year old because Theo has world-class speed. Ryo also has that type of athleticism, and I haven't seen the same from Gnabry, although I'm sure he's as fast as the Ox. That might explain why it appears Ryo is ahead.
If I recall correctly, for some reason Gnabry didn't make the CL squad registration, which explains why he isn't in the 18.

ah yeah, i think you're right.

at this point, yes. if we need an attacking sub, we don't have a better option right now. if the question was, who should take the spot in the front 3 if Giroud was out, I think he was the right answer. i agree Ryo has the higher ceiling but he's so out of form, i'd rather see Gnabry get a shot.

He's a different type wide player than Wilshere, who played pretty brilliantly wide left on Sat. But for balance, I'd choose Wilshere. Our ability to interchange between Giroud, Wilshere, Ozil, and Ramsey gave Sunderland fits defensively. Gnabry would be a winger like Ox, where the movement between the front three is more dynamic while the midfield is more static.

This I agree with. I'd like to see him play, but it's not like Ryo is getting his chances. Usually we put on Monreal, which works because we have the lead.

That's a good question. I imagine we'd play Walcott upfront with Gibbs wide left and Ramsey or Wilshere wide right. I don't think Gnabry or Miyachi would be first option off the bench.
God damn we are thin.

yeah, i should have said I prefer Wilshere out there. I was less high on his performance vs Sunderland than most (thought he was good overall, but had some bad blunders which took away from some of the brilliant exchanges). Pretty much what I was saying is I'd rather give Gnabry a shot out there than Monreal or Gibbs or Ryo.

we've been fortunate. we'll be chasing a goal at some point before Poldi's return though. we're going to need to throw someone on. will be interesting to see who that is when it happens. hopefully it doesn't happen but once or twice and whoever it is pulls a Macheda vs Villa.

yes. it's really bad. insane injuries.

We are in a precarious position right now. We are playing really well and with confidence. That can all be taken away so quickly.
I'm enjoying the ride and hoping we get some guys back before another round of injuries hit.

Well we have some retarded luck with injuries. Generally we have more than other squads, which is in stark contrast to the invincible era squads where we hardly had major injuries. If we could go through a season with decent luck with injuries, I'm sure we could compete. Hell, without major, unlucky injuries, we should have won titles in 2007-08, 2009-10, and 2010-11.
