I'm fearing we are just going to play through Cazorla like we use to play through Fabregas. Our movement needs to improve in the final third in a big way.

Yea need more creativity from the wings. Their have been Jesus Navas rumors. He would be a good signing but we already have some options out wide. Someone would have to go. Ox has to play more, whether it would be wide or in the middle.

I really think the fluid front three we saw during our really good run of form (last fall) would be ideal. But we might sacrifice defensive stability, which I think we are valuing more now. We need better movement. Podolski loves the ball to feet, so he can dribble. But he rarely makes the runs we need him to make. He needs to be a forward and let Cazorla be the creator. I really like him when he is dribbling, but we need him to be at the end of moves rather than at the beginning.

As it's still fairly relevant to today's game... Here's to hoping Isaac is the Stoke City of hurricanes. He does everything he can just to remain a hurricane, but at the end of the day knows he's nothing more than a 6'4" diver who cannot make it based on actual skill. Makes more noise than is actually worth anything.
Or here's to hoping Isaac is the Nasri of hurricanes. Demands money and attention based on very little actual data but shrinks when it comes to the big occasion.
As for the game today, another frustrating result, but positives for the defense. The offense will get there.
Finally, appreciate the welcome received earlier this week.

North London divide: Arsenal and Spurs set to battle for Afellay loan signing
Ibrahim Afellay set to spark loan tussle between Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool
Arsenal FC want Yohan Cabaye in £15m deal but rule out Cheick Tiote bid
Newcastle standing firm over Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote interest
Arsenal Transfer News: Tiote, Cabaye, Yanga-Mbiwa and Boilesen Involved in Latest Speculation
Some transfer rumors as it is closing in on the transfer day deadline. A player I think we should try and make a move for is Moussa Dembele. He wants to make a move to a bigger club. Spuds are in for him so why the hell don't we go for him. He stated his preference would be to move to Champion's League club. Man U are also reportedly interested. 15 mill seems to be his price. That isn't overly expensive. He would fit right in at Arsenal.

Dembele is one of the best dribblers in the PL. I would take him and Cabaye in a second. I'm skeptical that we would actually buy anyone else. I'm much more interested in getting rid of Chamakh, Squillaci, Bendtner, and Denilson.

For someone who is such a great dribbler, Dembele doesn't score very much. That said, for whatever reason, Fulham played him deeper last year and didn't push him forward more til the end of the season.
I did see one of his goals at the Sunderland game I went to
It was a lucky deflection

Dembele isn't a great finisher (maybe an understatement although he did have a nice strike Saturday) but moving him deeper in central midfield made this less of an issue. His defensive game is actually pretty good, I'm sure he could improve his positioning but he won I think 7 tackles against United, he's just so strong (one of the few central midfielders in the EPL that could really match up physically with Toure), Kagawa and Cleverly just bounced off him time after time.
He's absurdly good with the ball at his feet, and a good but not by any means great passer.
I'd prefer that everyone just leaves him alone personally.
Fulham could be a bit of a mess in about a week.

Dembele looked like a beast against man u. Would love to see him.
Also with all the navas talk, would have rathered taken adam Johnson. Already proven in the epl and isn't scared to leave his house

If anyone can teach him to have more end product, it would be Wenger. I'd imagine if we do get him, we will move him wide.

From what I have been reading there are many people or should I say papers linking us with a move for Yohan Cabaye. He is a quality player and is still improving. There is definitely some smoke coming from this rumor. One can only hope where there is smoke there is fire.

If he came to us, he'd basically be a redux of Samir Nasri, a central attacking player who would be moved out wide to mitigate his defensive responsibilities as well as to take advantage of dribbling ability. In wide areas, chances of an overload are more likely, with the overlap, which gives dribblers that much more space to operate. He's not a good enough passer to play centrally for us. Cabaye is a much better option. More Spanish in style then French, he's a player that truly loves the ball and wants to use it. I don't think either are really likely though.

Yea I don't see us paying more that 15 mill for Cabaye and Newcastle will definitely ask for more. We are being strongly linked to Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Wenger did mention he wanted another defender. He would be a great signing in he can play RB and CB. I know we will make at least one more offensive signing but I really have no clue who yet. Could be one those deadline day deals. I wish I had Wenger's phone number so I can call him and ask. The suspense is killing me.

I just really want us to get rid of the dead weight. I don't care if we bring anyone else in.
Posted on 8/27/12 at 6:22 pm to crazy4lsu
Yea I"m with you on that but I just think we need more creativity. Whether it comes from the center of midfield or the wings it doesn't matter to me but we need someone. I wouldn't be saying this of course if Jack was 100% healthy and would return to his form prior to the injury. He is such a talent. I still replay that UCL game at home against Barca when he was MOTM. He was the best player on the pitch that night and that is saying something. He has to be our future captain.
Posted on 8/27/12 at 6:24 pm to DB10_AFC
Yeah he has the makings of a captain. Cazorla is creative enough, but we have to start finishing better and improving our decision-making in the final third. I don't necessarily think we need any more creativity, but the decision to play so few pre-season games this year (partly enforced by the Olympics) is biting us in the arse right now.
Posted on 8/27/12 at 6:29 pm to crazy4lsu
Yea we could use more time team to settle in. But Diaby and Ramsey starting will cost us. To me that is the one position that needs filling. Even if its a loan move just to hold us over until Jack has a season under his belt. Do you think Ox has the tactical nous yet to play a deeper role?
Posted on 8/27/12 at 6:40 pm to DB10_AFC
Diaby is clearly far away from being able to contribute, but he does provide some physicality. He won a lot of headers against Stoke. Ramsey isn't a bad option, but his confidence is tender and a sub role suits him best at the moment. He has vision, which you can't teach, but he needs more seasoning. We can't let him go the way of Denilson by relying on him too much. Ox could play a deeper role, but I don't know how well he does as a tackler. Ramsey mostly gets in the way, Diaby tries to tackle, but doesn't do all that well with it, and Arteta is a superb tackler. If we could have Ox just get in the way like Ramsey, that might work. Also we haven't gotten a look at his passing. It's difficult to say. He has the physique to destroy people in the center of the park, but he's still only 19, so he has a long way to go in terms of development. We might as well play Coquelin there to see how he does, but I have a feeling that Wenger isn't completely convinced by him, hence the links to M'vila, Capoue, etc. We need more productivity from that position, but if we can last til Rosicky and Wilshere are back, we should be alright.
