Cazorla with a brilliant pass to Giroud, who misses an easy chance. How did he kick that wide

Okay, I am ever the optimist, I guess--at least right after season openers.

Cazorla looked great--he will be a key this year. With Arteta and him, we should have really good playmaking from the midfield. I hope Wilshere is back by late September; AA and Ramsey are worthless.

I'll chalk OG's wide right up to opening jitters. He was positioned well and should score some goals this year. I know I am bad about second-guessing Arsene's substitutions, but I really thought that OG should have come in for Gervinho out wide. I think LP had the best chance of finding the net.

I hope Ox is back next week and I hope Arsene doesn't bury him on the bench.

We are top four and I am optimistic we'll make some noise in CL. I'd like to see that RVP money spent to show we are serious about winning PL hardware.

Gotta get better service from the fullbacks, since they are always open to send in crosses.

Need to figure out where to play Poldi so he can get more involved.

Gervinho, just needs to clean up his final delivery/decision.

I'm scared about our defense out wide, Jenkinson worries me, and if Gibbs goes down we are stuck with Santos.

We looked pretty good all things considered for a semi-experimental lineup, and little chemistry.

We're in good shape for a team not used to several new (or in the case of Diaby, long absent) faces. We weren't tested offensively at all and I have no doubt our defense is pretty fricking fallible with Jenkinson, and to a lesser extent Gibbs, tottering back there.

Feeling pretty good about our preseason thru the first match. If we can spend that big arse sack of £££s defensively, unlikely, or DM, likely, then we'll stabilize for a nice title challenging run, imo

Well who are we even rumored to go after? With his and Song's money now in our pocket we definitely need to go after people.

I think we certainly need a 2nd striker, and a defensive mid for depth.

Are there any downright playmaker, top class players out there we can get on a big contract from RVP & Song's sales?

Thought Gibbs looked bright today. Jenkinson misplaced so many passes and his defensive technique is terrible. Coquelin or Yennaris plz.

Sunderland defended well, but we had plenty of chances. Cazorla looked really good. Still pissed about the Song transfer, but if we can bring in Sahin and someone else in the next couple weeks, we'll be alright.

I don't think the Giroud/Poldi switch will be good enough for plenty of goals. We would need our wingers to get a good amount in this case, that and Santi scoring.

Agreed. This is why our transfer practices are so frustrating to me - if we could keep our core group of playmakers together for 3-4 years, we would be a much stronger challenger for titles. Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira, Pires, Llungberg, and Silva were all together roughly from 2001-2006 and we won two league titles and three FA Cups.

Prinz poldi is a good talent, but IMO he's always performed better in the NT than club. However last season with köln he played very well. I'm curious to see how he acclimates to the EPL

Well, I'd like to see Giroud up top where Santi can play him some passes and have him hold it up for the wingers. Poldi making a run on the left, or whoever is on the right side Gervinho/Walcott.

Poldi loving to shoot, but playing with his back to the goal just isn't a good idea. All the times our wingers got the ball and had chances to cut in towards the middle, he'd be there and taking shots.

Still a bit premature on that assessment. I don't really like the look of Poldi in general but he has a "pick the game up by the scruff of the neck" instinct inside him. Giroud has looked solid in his secondary striking traits--holding and distributing--but needs to bust that EPL goal scoring hymen.

Strikers, more than any other position imo, always have the longest journey in settling from one league to another. They need more time before a confident diagnosis can be given.

Yeah saw that. Not really breaking news, just the formalities.

Now let's get M'Vila and Sahin
