It won't happen because it is not sustainable for the club at the moment. It's not a matter of "nutting up." While we are far from insolvent, we are not as efficient with our money making as we could be. We have to wait until our commercial deals run their course as well pay down the stadium debt. Until then, we will have to get by on good scouting and good deals.

Your appointed team leader doesn't want to play for you, 2 seasons straight? Unbelievable.

This point isn't given the attention it deserves. We haven't had a real captain/leader since Vieira left. We need someone who rally everyone when things aren't going to plan, someone who will let others know when they aren't giving enough for the team, and finally someone who is proud to play for Arsenal and would do anything on the pitch to try to ensure victory for our beloved club.

If we try to replace RVP with Dempsey, then I'll be really disappointed. Dempsey doesn't really fit in our style, as he specializes in late runs to the box to meet floated crosses. RvP was key in creating space behind the D when the opposition had men behind the ball. The difference being that RVP played with his back towards goal and Dempsey plays facing goal,so he wouldn't be a direct replacement. Even if we switch formations, I hope we go with someone younger to replace RvP.

Dempsey wouldn't replace RVP. That would either be Giroud or Podolski. Dempsey would be in competition with Rosicky and Ramsey to play behind the striker. He would offer something different to those two. He could also be used wide left.

How many of those have you seen play? The only one out of the ones I have seen who has real quality is Eriksen, and he's really inconsistent. Witsel is a shite player for the most part. Capoue is a poor man's M'vila and we are linked to him because we are linked with every French DM from Rio Mavuba to Blaise Matudi to Jeremy Toulalan to Moussa Sissoko. Dembele is a magnificent dribbler without any real final product. Suarez and Biglia aren't worth those price tags. We won't buy a 28 year old DM either (Denisov). Yanga-Mbiwa might be a good buy, but in the last three years we've spent 30 M on central defenders. Unless Djourou leaves, I don't think that is an area where we will try to improve.

As far as Dempsey playing as a AM, he would provide something different sure, but it wouldn't be what the position (to date) has required, which is to move the ball quickly and create chances. Ramsey, who played like shite for half the season, created the 2nd or 3rd most chances on the team at 55. I think Rosicky had around 30 chances created. Dempsey wouldn't be able to create nearly as much as those two, and probably won't be as good as Wilshere could be in that role. I'd just rather spend 10M on someone younger if we are deadset on bringing in another midfielder.

I didn't say we need to sign each one. I was just providing proof that there are quality players out there at reasonable prices. But according to you there are no players in our price range worthy of signing. I guess we should just give up then. I could have listed Maradona attacking mid for 5 mill and you would have found some fault with him. My point is that there are players that can help Arsenal Football Club and we should go out and find them and sign them. I'm try to suggest solutions, whether right or wrong, and all you do is find fault with everyone. Who would you like us to sign?

You can't say there are many players who could make a big difference, n when asked, list those names and not expect some criticism.

I agree with crazy and others who have said for months that Dempsey is a bad fit (for both sides, honestly). There are certainly players out there who can help us out, but none are likely to be starters for us unless RvP is gone this year and we splash cash for a big name striker. Even then, I doubt whoever else we sign this summer is someone we've discussed yet. We have to sell to break even, that's just a fact right now, but as crazy has said, Arsene will (hopefully) keep us on track.

I don't mean to be negative, as of course there are quality players at good prices. I'm just skeptical about certain players we've been consistently linked to, like some of the ones you mentioned. Also, I don't believe that signing 5 or 6 players will immediately alleviate our problems, which involves our defense and how we press. We don't really have a problem with chance creation, and probably won't as long as we play the way we do offensively. We just can't seem to sort out our defenders' problems, and it's an area we've spent plenty of money on. Throwing more money at that particular problem doesn't seem like a good idea.

As for players I want, I'd love to get a deep-lying CM to replace Arteta. I would have loved to get Cabaye, Defour, or Martin last year. I would take Borja Valero or Bruno Soriano from Villareal. I would take Ander Herrera from Athletic, and the LB Christian Fuchs who I think is better than Gibbs and Santos. I'd imagine all those players could be got for less than 10 million, with the exception of Herrera.

When are we going to offload players with no real future at Arsenal, Denilson, Chamakh, Park, etc?

If you try to play Podolski as a center forward, I don't think you're going to be happy with the results. He's better out on the left.

Mother f'ing this as well. We're in a situation where we could gain by subtraction. It's just more evidence that the board lacks a coherent plan and strategy for this squad.

Just read Wenger was approached for the French national team position and he turned it down.

My hunch is that he'll stay at Arsenal another 2-3 seasons and then retire. He would never have the ability to find value and develop talent on a national team the way he does right now.

Yea I agree there are some tactical problems especially with the defense and Wenger's insistence on not deviating from our 4-2-3-1 system. The thing is the club has to go out and buy. I'm talking Man Shitty spending spree either. We have good scouts. We have turned up with many gems for very reasonable prices. Koscienly, Vermaelen, and Sagna to name a few. We surely have enough cash to go out and spend and extra 30 million or so and add that to the money we make off our sold players and this could make a huge difference. To do this for one summer transfer period would not cripple the club.
It could give us that big boost we need to start to really challenge for trophies. Otherwise we can take the wait and see approach but I'm fairly sure Wenger will run out of miracles one day soon. And if we lose Champion's League it will be so much more difficult to challenge again. Look at the struggles Liverpool are having.

Is Lloris that much better than Schezny? Why are we wasting money on a spot that's pretty much solid.

My thoughts exactly that money could be much better spent in other places
