My 10,000th post goes out to one of my favorite players of all-time and his promise to donate his entire salary from PSG to a children's charity. He knows he has enough money already.

Love him, hate him, don't care...that's awesome.

Say what you want about Beckham and his "image", but on the pitch he busts his arse and always always gives 100%.

ill never get the Beckham hate

he does his job as well as anyone. you dont luck into 100+ caps with england, or play for arguably the best or highest profile teams in now 5 different leagues. and while he obviously has ahigh profile life, you know he loves the game and would play as long as his body will allow it

11.21am Joey Barton reacts to Beckham transfer on Twitter: 'He'll be great for French Football. Although, he'll remain 2nd best/best looking, Englishman in France. That'll hurt his confidence!'

Just curious... It's a 5 month contract, right? Is the value out there?

Not hating, but "donates" salary I guess sounds a little more impressive than writes £2mm check...

I think its great that those kids will get whatever the amount...

So is there any chance he's doing it because of the taxes? How much did he stand to gain? His public image took a huge boost for donating. I'm not saying he did any of this and good for him for donating. I was just curious.

definitely, because I'm sure he could just cut a check for the value of the contract...

Yeah, but he said today that he's committed to PSG past this five months...don't know if that means re-signing as a player, but...

OK, I'll be interested to see if he donates his salary beyond this initial contract... not that he has to or should...

Grant Wahl just shed some light. The taxes are 75% for salary over 1 million. So let's just say he makes 1 million for 5 months, after taxes he donates 250, 000. So his public image takes a huge boost while he donates an amount of money that he won't really notice. Again, I'm not saying this was his motive, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Which is why industrial sector businesses are leaving the country as fast as their feet can carry them. Its fricking ridiculous how much the rich pay there.

Just one of the many reasons that the French suck.

That is assuming charitable donations aren't tax deductible like they are here in the US.

Actually I was pointing out what it would look like if he didn't donate. So even if the Charity gets the whole million, it's not costing Beckham as much.

ETA:Also, remember, I'm just trolling. Every post. So you shouldn't feed me. AMIRITE?
