Fabian at LB might be a better option than Beasley for this group. I don't fricking know, tbh

Yeah, the problem is that you need Fabian in the left midfield providing defensive cover against the teams the US is playing.

However, if you put him there you assure he has almost nothing but covering to do.

He's just so good at LW, I think we have to play him there. Beasley at LB is better for the team than the next guy is at LW.

Yep, he definitely helps bring extra defensive prowess if he's your midfielder. I'm probably going to get drunk about it

Chandler--Cameron--Besler--Fab Johnson

Zusi--Jones--Bradley--Dempsey

Altidore--Johannsson

But is playing Clint at outside mid a good idea at all? That doesn't really fit his skillet.

He doesn't defend much at all these days. I can't see him playing there. He'll have to be one of the two least defensively oriented players in the line-up for this to work.

At least Zusi tracks back quite a bit on the right hand side.

Fab's skillset is pretty much negated if you put Deuce out there.

4-4-2

It could essentially be a 4-3-3 if Deuce pushes up more, but i see us running this out. Zusi's defensive ability allows Fab to attack more. Bradley will control the midfield box-to-box, and hell maybe Green is showing Jurgen that he is better than we thought he was. Also you put Deuce at LS and move Diskerud in at CAM or Jones at CDM and push Bradley up

Is there any chance we see a back line of Cameron, gonzalez, besler, chandler to free up Fab to move to LW?

Can someone explain to me why Davis is such a bad selection. Serious question.

In all three matches we will be defending to save our skins, I don't see anything remotely so all out attack oriented.

Do you realize how much of a defensive disaster that would be?

Just leave it

He posts something like that literally every game the national team plays

Yeah, I don't think he has as firm of a grip on tactics as he thinks.

I'll say this: I'd pay good money to watch Christiano Ronaldo run at Julian Green and DeAndre Yedlin for 90 minutes.

If we have to put Fab at LW, then I'd rather put Beasley at LB than Omar in the starting 11.

And I hate Beasley at LB.

I think we just need to go out in the first game with Fab at LB, Cameron and Besler in defense, and Chandler at RB, Zusi in midfield along with JOnes and Bradley, on the left play a fairly harmless placeholder who will be play some defense, Deuce in a hybrid role, and Jozy up top. I don't see anyone besides Bedoya who could be that placeholder. Certainly not lead foot Davis or 110 pound Green.

No matter what, 4 of the team's 5 best midfielders play centrally and that's a big problem

In the second half, we can try some stuff if that looks impotent. Either Bacon on the left or Fab at LW, Beasley at LB, or something else.

If we want defensive, I feel like this would be interesting...

Howard
Chandler Cameron Besler Fab
Beckerman Jones
Zusi Bradley Dempsey
Altidore

or a bit less defensive...
Howard
Chandler Cameron Besler Fab
Jones Bradley Diskerud
Zusi Altidore Dempsey

I dunno. It's definitely an interesting discussion.

We're going to have to find a way to overload the middle of the field. Hopefully we've been focusing on that.

I think the key against Germany will be having a 2nd striker or CAM to help either Jones or Bradley press high on their holding mids. The best way to contain Özil, Reus, whomever, is to cut off their supply.

Too bad Dempsey probably won't do that

I would like this a lot against Germany if we weren't playing them last. Could be a feasible Portuguese line-up, especially with Mix, instead.
