I agree Ream has qualities that are useful, and look, maybe there’s a compelling argument that this was the best option vs Mexico with the roster and set of CBs we had.

But I still wouldn’t agree with that argument.

Should Pefok start at striker now? He’s a proper 9 who actually holds the ball up and tries to bring others into play.

Dike gonna put Siebatchu and Sargent out to pasture

The biggest thing Sargent provides right now is pressure. He is really good defensively for a striker, and for wanting to press, he is great with that.

But if we’re going to pass from the back, and send up deep balls the way we were doing last night, it makes next to zero sense to start Sargent.

Dike needs to go to a team that doesn't play with the ball in the air 90% of the time. How do you evaluate a guy that never has the ball at his feet?

He was all of last year and had a great rookie season with Chris Mueller, an old Nani, and Mauricio Pereyra feeding him the ball, all of whom are solid players, but nothing on the level of Pulisic, Reyna, Weah, Weston, etc.

I feel Sargent’s off ball movement has gotten progressively worst. Some of the runs he was making these last two matches made zero sense.

Bremen infected him

Yeah, I mean, everyone regressed this year for Bremen. When you play without a midfield for an entire season you’re going to struggle to see how to make the right runs. There are games he played this season (for example, against Bayern) where you see how great Sargent can be.

But he needs to move elsewhere to learn where to run in space.

I guess what I'm saying is that he isn't to the point where I'd call it "struggling". None of his chances were should have scored opportunities, and if Gio had put the ball at his feet against Honduras we wouldn't be saying anything.
