It still should be a red if they knew it was going wide.
But AOC had no idea if it was going wide or not and neither could the refs (most likely) who only got one look at it.

Are you saying it's a red because of the hand position and his apparent intent? If so, then yeah a red is correct.
Because I've seen plenty if handballs in the box that didn't result in reds, but those were clearly inadvertent.
I just want to know who told the center about it and that conversation.

I don't think intent comes into play on DAOGSO according to FIFA.
If the ball is going wide, I don't see how that's denying a goal or an opportunity for a goal.

he was trying to play GK
No one else was behind him and deliberately handled the ball. GK block shots going wide just in case sometimes.
