Rumors City and Brighton have agreed to a £60 mil price tag for Cucurella.

While I am ecstatic about Haaland, this is the signing I believe puts us over the top. A wide overlapping fullback is what we need on the left to allow Grealish to track inside.

It’s obvious after the Mendy signing pep wanted a fullback that can defend, attack and bombs forward when the opportunity presents itself. I didn’t watch all of Brighton’s matches, probably less than 10 tbh, but in the ones I watched Cucurella stood out in all of them with his forward runs and backtracking ability.

Wouldn’t signing Griezmann be a breach of their code on players? I know they’ve had foreigners in the past but they generally had Basque parents. And they’ve had immigrants who moved to the Basque region as little kids.

But signing a clear foreigner (and not one who is in the French basque region like Lizarazu) who moved to the country as a teenager entirely for soccer reasons seems to be really using a loophole.

Of course they’ve had coaches (Bielsa for one) who are as Basque as a Cajun from Lafayette, and they’re been using sponsors on their jersey for about a decade.

Because Griezmann spent time at youth level in a Basque club, he is potentially available to play for Athletic Bilbao, in spite of being born and growing up in the non-Basque areas of France.

From wiki

Surprised Bielsa would go back to a place he’s already been but happy to see him back in the game. Wish they’d play a friendly at Elland Road.

I'm pretty positive that is correct. I think if you enter a Basque club's youth system before you are 17 you are grandfathered in as Basque.

Yes this is correct. I have managed Athletic for 17 years on football manager. I basically own the club.

Arsenal signing Fabio Viera from Porto. Deal is done per Ornstein. 35M or so. Out of nowhere.

attacking midfielder that plays on the left as well. probably a decent xhaka replacement. More goals, more assists less cards.

He is an outstanding player. One of my favorite players to watch this past season.

He was the best player on Brighton this past year and I believe he won the club’s player of the year award. I believe Brighton was able to get him for 15-20 million last season. Tough blow for Brighton if they lose him but it will be an outstanding signing for City.

Grizz is about the level of Athletic Club now. Decent but he’s really fallen off.

Oh I could give a full rundown. One of the primary reasons I went there was because they already had a 20-year-old midfielder with 199 PA.

Oh lawd.

Were you able to keep him? If not, who snatched him up and for how much?

Yes. Still there. So I haven’t done 17 seasons there but a decade-plus

He is like 34 and still club captain and one of the better players.

That is one of the better players I've ever seen. 19 on free kicks is fricking Juninho territory.

This was the best player I had in this save. American/polish dual citizen that spawned at Dortmund.
