You're right. Let's freak the frick out over a loss to one of the best teams in Mexico (who's in midseason form) when we are still trying to implement a new system, trying to improve the chemistry of the front 3, and our 3 best wingbacks are injured (in a system where your wingbacks are extremely important).

Defensive system was good tonight. Individual breakdowns largely led to the goals. Yet again, Shea and Ambrose provided nothing going forward (letting the the Monterrey defense really focus on our front 3), and often were at fault for the defensive breakdowns.

The FDB transition is going to be incredibly bumpy in part because De Boer insists on fitting square pegs into round holes. If we’re relying on Mikey Ambrose to give us width then we need to go 4 at the back and bring Villalba in.

This will get better when Gressel and Escobar return but holy shite Martino made adjustments when things weren’t working and de Boer very much looks like someone whose last two jobs only lasted for a couple months.

I’d place all three of our losses this year in the bottom five of all time Atlanta United results.

Monterrey is second in Liga MX after nine matches. A better league with higher paid players. They should have won, but 3-0 always sucks.

It’s not that we lost. It’s that we’ve spent $40 million dollars on attacking talent and haven't generated a single good chance in the last 180 minutes of play.

Haven't really had time to practice that. You going to spring it on them on Tuesday when you play on Wednesday?

Atlanta United official twitter account getting ratioed in all its posts with fans wanting de Boer fired lol. What a shitshow. Looking forward to seeing Sunday’s match in-person.

I don’t really see how it could have gone any worse.

This early in the project, I'd much rather stick with what you're working on than deviate from it because of a short-term injury.

Otherwise, you just wasted 90 minutes against a legit opponent.

I personally blame the announcer and the announcer's curse for what happened. We were chugging along at 1-0 looking like we would escape and he says "Now if Atlanta could just get a goal we could leave here feeling great about having the lead on aggregate when not having played with the best form" (or something really close to that) not 30 seconds later the barrage happened.

Oh well, playing this team again in a week will be good experience for them. I'm sure they'll get it together before long...it's a long season.

I'm not convinced that FDB won't work out, but it's always given me pause that despite a strong resume in Europe so many sides gave him a look and passed in recent years.

I get what you are saying but that's sunk cost so to speak. Just because it would be a waste of 90 minutes doesn't mean you should let that turn in 360 minutes should that not work out in the long run anyway.

Escobar was back in training today. Gressel still not with the first team.

And apparently Carleton is no longer listed as a Homegrown player.

I was just looking at the MLS rooster page which has now been updated and he is still a Homegrown.

2's got a nice 2-0 win. Pogba looked good, but clearly isn't match fit. Was disappointed in both Vazquez and Perreira. Asiedu looked really good. MOTM for me. Vint came on in the 55' and made an impact.
