I really hope we don’t go on a selling spree and replace our fast paced South American flare for boring mls bullshite style of play. Problem is the Latin American style is opposite of Debore

Looks like we're trading Nagbe to Columbus for massive amounts of xAM.

That's an odd trade.

Not really. It's a trade that almost happened at the beginning of this season. I think his family lives in Columbus and he wanted to move there this year. I think he also has a great relationship with Caleb Porter.

That's almost exactly what we gave Portland for him a few years ago. Great work by Eales.

I don't know. He turns 31 in December and will carry a $700k salary and didn't play well at the two recent stops before getting to Atlanta. It would be risky. I think if either team is interested in Meram, they would be better off trying to fill out the rest of their roster first. If they still have the cap space to work him, they could probably work out a cheap trade for him.

A guy like Vazquez may very well get taken in the expansion draft.

I'd take Pereira over Meram in the draft in a heartbeat. He'll take up an international slot until he can get a green card, but he's 10 years younger, much cheaper, and looked pretty good at times this year.

2020 Atlanta United roster (as of Nov. 21, 2019)

Goalkeepers (2): Brad Guzan, Brendan Moore
Defenders (6): George Bello, George Campbell, Franco Escobar, Jon Gallagher*, Leandro Gonzalez Pirez and Miles Robinson
Midfielders (7): Mo Adams, Ezequiel Barco, Andrew Carleton, Luiz Fernando, Julian Gressel, Emerson Hyndman, and Eric Remedi
Forwards (5): Lagos Kunga, Josef Martinez, Pity Martinez, Dion Pereira, Tito Villalba

The club declined contract options on defenders Jose Hernandez and Florentin Pogba; midfielders Chris Goslin and Justin Meram; and forward Patrick Okonkwo. Meram is eligible for Free Agency, while the other four players will be available through End-of-Year Waivers.

Mikey Ambrose, Alec Kann, Kevin Kratz, Jeff Larentowicz and Brek Shea are out of contract. Ambrose will be available through the Re-Entry Draft and Kratz through End-of-Year Waivers, while Shea is eligible for Free Agency. The club has extended contract offers to Kann and Larentowicz.

Additionally, the club maintains Emerson Hyndman's loan rights through the end of 2019

Atlanta United has created a partnership with Aberdeen FC in Scotland. Atlanta bought a 10% stake in Aberdeen and Eales will sit on their board. Aberdeen will help expand Atlanta's scouting and brand in Europe. I imagine well see more loans between the clubs in the near future.
