Paredes was already wrapped up to PSG, but it looks like Allan will be there too. Rumor is that it’s €100+ mil.

I have no fricking clue who City will get to replace Fernandinho now that de Jong and Allan are both apparently gone.

I'm not sure if I believe those reports. Aren't PSG under a lot of scrutiny with FFP at the moment (not that they really care about that). Even if they're not, 100m for a 28-year old seems outrageous when considering reports that he'll be earning 32m/year over 4.5 years. Maybe reports have that incorrect and it's 32m total, not per year

They shed close to £100 mil off the books over the summer and brought in only Kehrer, Bernat and M’Bappe (His transfer counted for this accounting year) which totaled £159 mil.

Neymar’s transfer fee doesn’t count against them since he essentially paid his own release-clause.

PSG are essentially fine to do whatever they want in the transfer market.

PSG have no midfielders. Diarra, Rabiot and Verratti are essentially all they have. Rabiot is gone at the end of the year and Diarra and Verratti are hurt. Nkunku has had to play in the middle which is beyond ridiculous.

I have no clue what the contract numbers look like, but that is almost certainly a pre-tax figure. He’d probably be raking in €17-18 mil post tax.

Allan is a great player. He may be better than Fernandinho in that role. For comparison regarding salary, Frenkie de Jong signed a contract with Barça this week that will pay him €16.5 mil post-tax. He hasn’t really done shite in his career.

Thanks for the insight into the FFP deal, I just figured they may have been limited because of the Mbappe transfer. I'm admittedly not that sharp on the details of FFP and how it hinders clubs ability to transfer outside of knowing clubs have to generate X amount of revenue to spend X amount in transfers.

Are post-tax dollars the only criteria observed -- or more bluntly, are wages considered in FFP? Or is it strictly transfers?

I like Allan a lot and I think he's a fantastic player, certainly what PSG need right now with injuries and the Rabiot saga. I guess the price tag kind of caught me off guard considering his age.

In regards to FFP and salaries, the EPL is the only league that has a rule in regard to increasing your wages a certain amount, as far as I know. And if this is breached you are docked points in the league, compared to being banned from the Champions/Europa League if you break the ‘big’ FFP.

So no, a club’s amount of wages don’t affect FFP as long as the balance sheet reads right at the end of the year.

One thing that a lot of people don’t realize is when club’s do their accounting, as well as UEFA, a total transfer sum doesn’t go against them for one year.

Lets say Allan signs for €100 mil and signs a 4-year contract with a €15 mil salary, post tax. The way PSG will put this on the books is they will show €40mil for 2019, €40mil for 2020, €40mil for 2021 and through his contract through 2022.

This is why club’s you think are spending huge can do so in consecutive windows, that and when a big transfer window falls off of the 3-year period that FFP looks at.

Sorry for the wall of text lol

Okay, that makes sense then. I wasn't aware that you could "stretch" the numbers across the entirety of the contract.

Also, brought in Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting on a free (for obvious reasons)...

How can that be valid? Wouldn't they have had to give him the money through salary or some other means that counts towards FFP? I thought his transfer fee was why they had to defer Mbappe's transfer for a season

I always see hype surrounding Perisic, but when I watch him play, I'm never really impressed. He's not bad, but he just doesn't ever scream star to me.

Yeah he’s been not great for inter this season. Often one of the first subs off. I’m okay shipping him out but not sure the depth in that position with Keita Balde hurt.

ETA: didn’t see it mentioned but Inter signed Cedric from Southhampton on loan with goal of a permanent move. Must mean Vrsaljko’s days are numbered or a serious injury. Or both.

He was pretty beastly at Wolfsburg for a little while. That made me and other Dortmund fans pretty salty since Klopp chose to play Grosskreutz over him.

I thought he played well in the WC. Arsenal need someone to play on the wing, but our defense keeps getting injuries. And still needs to be upgraded in the summer. So I don't know if I like this move. Maybe just as a loan not actually purchasing him after.
