Kroos Modric

You are way too worried about the actual formation. You are insane if you can watch this game and think these guys are playing by a strict formation anyway.

well, it looked like a 4-2-3-1 out there to me... with Isco in the middle now... though I'm sure it's fluid/flexible
That aside, I think they are little exposed with that personnel, regardless of the formation..

Your distinction means nothing. Benzema has been sitting at the top all game.
ok so swap out benz you still have James slotted in a #10. Leaving Kroos and Modric unless you push them both way back you have no protection for your back 4 . So you really don't have an all out front 6 attacking.

I think so too. But I think they are willing to take the chance. They will probably repeat last year. Score tons of goals, but drop some games they shouldn't.

fellaini scores
It was a trash goal too. Keeper and defender ran into each other - Fellaini scores open netter

They will need Modric to their anchor but can't do that not playing in the middle. Will be interesting with a healthy Xabi who the odd man out is.

It looks pretty similar to the 4-3-3/4-4-2 they played in for the latter half of last season

Just thinking about it Madrid is fricking stacked.
Kroos might be their best buy and on the cheap b/c he can play all over the midfield.

Holding formation structure is a very keep part of the game so you don't expose your other players to situations out numbered. Of course the players move around and swap places but the formation structure remains the same for the most part. This isn't FIFA when you turn the ball over and press turbo and your guy back tracks like no other.
Did you play soccer past the age of 12?

I've been impressed with him this game. He's less of a pussy than I thought he was, and he's not wheelchair-bound like Xabi

I wish LvG could have brought him in.
Kroos and that young spanish stud in our midfield would have been amazing.

Falcao, if they get him. That team is crying out for a finisher as clinical as him.

You understand that he's just trying to parrot crazy's thread from the other week, right?

If he is healthy and still has the pace he used to have.

I must have missed it
Xabi looked pissed when he got his medal

He's pretty shitty defensively. He's always fouling because he's never in the proper defensive positions.
Posted on 8/12/14 at 4:02 pm to joey barton
Maybe he'll be motivated to work harder on defense

Ancelotti has done a great job of at least harnessing what players will do. People are going to have to work to stay on the field unless Khedira and di Maria leave.
