Manchester United are preparing a bid for William Carvalho, according to Portuguese newspaper Record. The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has previously dismissed speculation over his future but the report suggests that he is now open to playing his football elsewhere after Leonardo Jardim left to take charge of Monaco. Record says that Sporting will accept no less than €30illion for their star player and that United are willing to pay that sum.

More now on the breaking news that Liverpool have landed Adam Lallana from Southampton, and the midfielder is desperate to make an impact at Anfield. Brendan Rodgers is also thrilled to have secured his services and hopes he will go from strength to strength.
Also looks like tom ince is going to Hull

I'd be concerned at paying that fee for William. he looked really slow in the world cup.

this is what i like to read...
Midfielder Ryan Gauld has been granted permission by Dundee United to hold talks with Sporting Lisbon.
Following an approach from the Portuguese for the 18-year-old, the Scottish Premiership side have allowed him to travel to discuss a move.
Gauld, who is under contract until 2017, scored eight goals in 38 appearances last season.
"There is still a lot to be resolved before anything is concluded," said manager Jackie McNamara.
"Nothing is done and dusted yet.
"Since I've been here there has been speculation around Ryan, John Souttar, Andy Robertson, Stuart Armstrong. So many of the boys have been linked with moves.
"We know one day, we'll lose Ryan and the rest of them. Selfishly, I'd like to keep them for as long as possible and watch them develop but you don't want to stand in their way and then there is the financial aspect; if the money's right, which I believe it is."
A series of eye-catching performances last season earned Aberdeen-born Gauld international honours at U21 level as well as the nickname 'Mini-Messi' and he was short-listed for the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year, which was won by team-mate Robertson.
Having made his United debut in May 2012, his rise to prominence with McNamara's team led to an extended contract at Tannadice as soon as he turned 18.
If Gauld does move to the Portuguese capital, the manager will hope to invest some of the transfer fee but replacing the attacking midfielder is not a priority.
"We have good options in that area but we are looking to strengthen other positions," he added. "Whether this helps that side of things, we'll wait and see."
McNamara, 40, won 33 caps for Scotland and has every faith that Gauld will be a key player on the international stage.
"He's going to be a massive star in our national team, there's no doubt about that," McNamara BBC Scotland in December. "He will be one of the greats of our game."
Talking to the BBC last year, Gauld revealed that he harboured ambitions to play overseas.
"I would like to think that I could go abroad maybe and see the lifestyle and culture over there," he explained, while stressing his contentment at United.
"Obviously, every young boy's dream is the Champions League. That's the biggest stage of football so if I could reach that at some point in my career I would be absolutely delighted."
Champions of Portugal on 18 occasions, Sporting finished second behind city rivals Benfica in the Primeira Liga last term.
