the article's title stems from the un-nuanced question that was asked and disregards the nuanced answer given.

as he says, getting Fab to sign off on it is still a major hurdle (and one that could probably be overcome because money talks). there's also a chance that the situation drags on and others express interest. it's certainly a possibility, but he's just guessing at this point.

i think it would be a grave mistake for AW to not buy Cesc if Chelsea are the only serious suitors.

There's also the school of thought that arsenals buy back first clause is only activated when Barca accepts another teams bid. Meaning Wenger is waiting for something like this to fully materialize before swooping in and getting him on the relative cheap

Looks like Atleti may have pulled Siqueira out from under Madrid´s nose for €10M.

This supposedly paves the way for a Filipe Luís move to Chelsea.

Speaking of 3rd party ownership, didn't Italy just ban it?

I know that it's what you mean but Serie A ended "Co-ownership" (2 clubs co-own a player).

"3rd Party," when a separate investor owns part of a player, has already been banned for a while in Italy like in England (which is why many South American players that would go to Serie A end up in Portugal instead.

Did they say how current arrangements were going to work out?

I think each of the two owners bids on the unowned half at the end of the year. Higher bid gets the other half. At least that's how I understand it.

You're right about the clubs submitting simultaneous sealed bids with the higher bidder paying the lower amount to the lower bid.

That's how co-ownership deals have always been resolved unless clubs agree to something else between each other.

How the new ban on co-ownerships will work:
1) there are no new co-ownership deals
2) all existing deals can be renewed for 1 year
3) all other existing deals will go to bids sometime this June

It's really unfortunate that Serie A has ended co-ownership. I think it's one of the few things the league has gotten completely right in comparison with other leagues.

It's so superior to loans. That it gives concrete financial reward for developing younger players to smaller clubs even if the results may not be seen the table means you don't get nearly as much of the "loaned players who never play" that you do in other leagues.

The complaint was that the richest clubs were taking advantage (exactly how most good ideas in human relations in general are fricked up) by buying up too many Italian youth NT players and not managing them properly (Juve has 30 or so co-owned players of the 275 or so total that exist at every level of Italian football).

However, to completely ban it is throwing the baby out with the bathwater and quite typical of the FIGC.

Yeah, I mistyped. I think that I even mentioned Portugal in this thread

It's a practice that I've always found interesting, though this will certainly simplify my understanding of who owns whom in Serie A. Loans kind of annoy me on principle

Yeah, it is complicated from the standpoint of following younger players.

When it is at its most effective is actually when it gets really confusing: smaller, cash strapped clubs re-tooling in a dizzying array of "halves" of players moving in all directions.

It's official, Uri Rosell is off to Portugal. Rumored fee is ~$2 million, making it a record fee for Sporting KC. Sad to see him go, one of my favorite players and I'll be sure to follow him next season at Sporting CP.

Jorge Claros and Roger Espinoza are two names I've seen as replacements, Espinoza of course leaving SKC last year for Wigan. Claros was rumored to be coming in the winter and if Espinoza came back, it would surely be as a DP, so I would say Claros is the more likely of the two. Haven't seen him play at all but he is in Honduras' side (both are) going to Brazil so I hope he plays some.

This PSG stuff is truly absurd, they're just giving a middle finger to FFP. The worst part is that Chelsea are going to make ~£140 million from three sales supposedly. That gives them a tremendous amount of leeway now and assures their compliance.

I don't really see them wanting to sell Hazard however, he's been pretty great so far.

City has to be loving this. Let PSG be the test dummy. PSG is def tempting them with a Euro ban.

The only hope is that he tries to come back too early from his injury and really F's his leg up at the WC.

I hate to hope for that but it's in the best interest of my club.

The Celtic-manager rumour of the day is Ronny Deila of Strømsgodset.

ETA:

Magne Jordan Nilsen ?@DTMagne 3h
Deila have informed Godset that he wants to become the Celtic-manager. Suprised if they dont agree compensation. Big opportunity for him.

ESPN write-up on him calling him the "Norwegian Klopp"

ETA: Important soccer board edit (NSFW?)
