Welbeck played well for Steve Bruce while at Sunderland. He can at least get you at least ten goals a season.

Its not like they are paying £12 million for a striker who has only reached double figures in scoring in the top flight once.

I'm pretty sure Welbeck would rather cut off his dick than play for Liverpool so you don't have to worry about that.

Manc through and through.

That's fine, don't think we'd want him...

yeah, I guess... I still think he's worth 1/2 that. I'm not saying Shane Long is worth £12mm either...

Hell, I 'm ecstatic that Sunderland is offering £14 for Borini, didn't think we'd even make our money back on him, much less a profit (if he ends up going)..

Before Sturridge blew up last year he was every bit a better striker. Welbeck plays his arse off every match and seems to step up in the bigger games. He was great in champions league games the last two years.

Yeah, but transfer value is based on present form more than past form. Welbeck hasn't been getting a lot of PT, and hasn't been scoring a lot. Also, I would consider scoring in the WC to be stepping up, which Studge has done and Welbeck hasn't. But yeah two years ago it was Welbeck for sure.

I think he could flourish being the main guy. Problem is when he is out of form he is out of form

Welbeck has spent a lot time on the wing, so it's tough to draw conclusions based strictly on his goal scoring record.

true, but if we're going on the larger point of "who was a better prospect/player 2 years ago" then it's worthwhile to point out Sturridge killed it at Bolton as a striker and was relegated to the wing at Chelsea and had a similar scoring record to Welbeck.

Well, Sturridge played well for us the half of the year before, too (10 or so goals in 1/2 season)...

I would have said it was debatable who was better prior to that... Neither one lit the world on fire...

That said, we only paid £12mm for Studge and there were still many LFC fans questioning that at the time...

The market by all accounts has been pretty crazy. Even championship guys going for a lot.

Apparently we're offering 10+4, or 12+2 for Borini. Depending on source. Compared to the other deals it seems like a win win. Borini played his best when Gus finally weeded out the squad and was playing more of his system. He scored most of his goals over last handful of games. He and Wickham played very well off of each other.

I think Borini would do well at Sunderland, under Poyet... I like him and wouldn't mind seeing him stay, but he just won't get the games here he needs to keep developing.. It would be best for his career, though I understand him wanting to stay and fight for his place...

In the end, I think he goes..

While Im pretty sure Wellbeck would never play for Sturridge.

In the U21s those two were a quality pairing, Welbeck got more of the goals but Sturridge balled out

However, after a summer spent chasing the likes of Edin Dzeko, Romelu Lukaku, and Alvaro Morata to lead their line for next season to no avail, Bendtner's arrival seemed to be somewhat deflating for Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking, who was hardly gushing with praise when he told Kicker at the Dane's press conference unveiling. He said: "We dared to touch the top shelf of players. It's empty now though, so we need to look a bit further down."
