Manchester United's bid to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels is being aided by Liverpool, according to the Daily Mirror. United are reportedly nearing agreement on a £20million fee with Dortmund for Hummels after the Bundesliga club opened talks with Liverpool about a deal to sign centre-half Tiago Ilori on a season-long loan.

besides his possible lack of playing time, I wouldn't do it for that reason either...

Seems twitter is pointing us back to Bony..

We can offer that... I think if we want him and are willing to meet Swansea's valuation, we'll get him...

I'm undecided on him, though I think he's a very good player

He is the type of strike you need a good target man. Problem is you have so many attacking players someone is def getting pushed to the side out there.

The overhaul of the roster will be interesting with so many new players. Might have the Spurs result.

I kinda like Lambert for that role off the bench... Studge is our primary CF..

I dont hate it... Perhaps we can play the diamond with those two at times, he is great holding the ball up and is very good at combination play... good finisher too! Though I think the 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 will be our primary formations..

I have my reservations, but I think one difference is the core of our team will be the same, where as Spurs pushed those players out for the new signings and well, AVB and his stubbornness..

Can Bony play the lone striker role if needed? I ask, because I don't know.

Oh yeah, I would say thats his strength...

My only question about him is his pace... But he would have been a great alternative to have in games like the last Chelsea match...

take a look, he's a monster in the box..

Wilfried Bony

Lambert is more of poacher and not so much as a presence winning balls in the air or holding it up top while the play develops. Sturridge can play pretty much anywhere but doesn't have that brut size and strength of Bony which would make him such an ideal guy in that position.

Thank god you guys didn't get lukaku

Oooh, him! I don't know why but I was thinking of someone else entirely.

Yeah, I would love to have him. He would help out more immediately than picking up say another winger like Lavezzi or Shaqiri. As far as I'm concerned, having a guy who fits that mould and can play that role is more important than even having both of the fullbacks transfers.

Agreed. He's a false 9 more than anything else.

I think he's good at both of those and a lot more than just a poacher... I actually think their games are very similar, with the exception that Lambert is a lot older and I acknowledge Bony is the better of the two..

I agree about Bony... but I believe Studge and BR want him being the main man in the middle this season.. don't get me wrong, I would like to have Bony and think it offers a lot more tactical options for us.. I'd like someone a little more dynamic that can play across the frontline.. I f that option doesn't present itself, I'd be super happy with Bony.. Studge is injury prone and if something happened to him, I'd be really concerned having Lambert as our only CF (i'm assuming Borini will move on)

He doesn't really have the pace or strength. He's a better version of Wondo

In my mind it does. I would not consider Lambert a false 9.

He has the strength, but not the pace... granted, probably not many strikers in the world have the strength of Bony.. he's built like a linebacker

Rickie Lambert is the definition of a classic #9.

Big: check

Plodding: check

Finishes chances created by others: check

Designated Penalty Taker: check

Good in the Air: Check

Going to have to meet that price tag because if Bony goes Swansea is trotting out the formidable strike team of Gomis and Emnes
