It looked as if LSU tried early to set up the option and see if they could be as successful with it this time around as they were on Nov. 5.

It was clear that LSU spent a good bit of time preparing to run the option out of various formations with different personnel groupings, etc...

I think what probably happened was the LSU coaching staff was banking on the Option being there for them all night, but when Alabama's defense stuffed the first couple of attempts, and JJ had issues with ball handling, it appeared that the entire team began to panic.

LSU fans - would you agree with that assessment?

the only change from the Nov. 5 gameplan is that they moved Randle to the slot on certain plays.

that's it.

that's literally it.

This loss is on the OL they were manhandled all night. JJ didn't have time to throw and you knew running was going to be tough.

I dont think I've ever seen a QB look so bad running the option. JJ looked uncomfortable everytime they ran it. its odd because I've seen far less athletic QB's run the option much better. JJ looks like a great runner on QB draws and scrambles, but he looks like shite running the option.

of course, you gotta give bama's D credit because they were all over the QB and the pitch man every time LSU tried it

I saw Harris and Upshaw both cover the QB and the pitch man last night. Once I saw that on the outside I knew the option was doomed.

If you observed one, you definitely saw more than I did.

Story of his career. He strings it down the line and won't take on the defender to make him commit, as was described on tv last night. I really think it has to do with contact. You run the option correctly, you will get hit. You scramble, you are trying not to get hit. My observation after four years of this crap.

Same here. I think someone forgot to bring it.....

Or maybe not. It looked more like Miles was bound and determined to let us all go down with the
USS Jefferson.....

Easy to cover it when the qb is tip-toeing the whole way.

I felt the same way when I saw that early on. I worried all night that someone would miss an assignment and they'd bust a long one, though. Our linebackers and defensive ends were flying around last night.

It just seemed like the LSU offense was literally lost after those first couple of option plays were stopped. It was strange.

This. I take no credit for this. I got it from the Fark Board. Funny as shite but it pretty much sums up LSU gameplan.
