What was he thinking? Too hurt to be back there?

He couldn't cut on the ankle, but could move straight line.

Seems so.

He never should have been in in that role. Coaches made a mistake there.

1. He wasn't expecting that ball to roll that far, neither was anyone else watching.

2. If he can't shuffle back 5 yards, he shouldn't have been back to catch the ball. That's not his fault though. Coaches should have had him on the sidelines there

Tonight was the first time I've ever said 'that is a badass punter.' Guy was money all night long, I would give him the mvp.

Cut? Good lord it was almost in between the hashes and not a line drive if I am not mistaken. ( I have been mistaken many times before fwiw)

That's what I was thinking. Hell of a boot by Wing in the stat line Did his crappy punt hit the wire or did he just shank it?

The mistake came from the "infallible" Nick Saban for having him in that situation. He's a great coach and his record and results prove that, but he has made his share of mistakes and putting Maze back there in that situation was one of them. He couldn't cut at all apparently. Throw in the trick play call that was intercepted. LSU executed in special teams and Alabama didn't.
