Why is Dem. incumbent governor Beshear tied in a dead heat with Republican challenger and current Kentucky Attorney General Cameron? Kentucky is a red state. Beshear is a Biden rubber stamper, yet the two are tied??? Makes no sense to me.

Cameron has a good deal of momentum coming into election day. Andy had a pretty good lead until this week.

Polls not accurately portraying the electorate?

No way.

Nothing in particular. The polls just seem to get tighter around election day.

I'm actually kind of excited. Beshear was about twenty points ahead a month ago. We're heading in the right direction.

I’d say a couple of things are in play.
Kentucky is conservative on national issues but still has far more registered Dims than Rs. Also the abortion issue. Cameron says no exceptions and many still believe incest, rape and mothers life in danger should apply. Beshear did a good job on the floods in Eastern Kentucky and Tornadoes in Western KY. The economy in KY is decent.

He vetoed a bill that would not allow trannies to compete against women. It was overridden. He spied on church goers using KSP during Covid. The legislature has saved him from his own stupidity a couple of times.

Cameron has been outspent on ads and the media is part of the Beshear campaign.

Those reasons are why it is close.

I believe if Trump weren’t the victim of judicial harassment he would have made a campaign stop here and boosted Cameron.

FDOJ and FJB.

Can’t believe all these southern racist Republicans are going to vote for a black man. It’s almost like they’re not racist.

Pretty good summary. People forget, the appalacian whites in eastern KY are extremely poor, and many still have big daddy government needs, and like voting Dem.

I have wondered about the lack of Trump's presence at a rally, which could have boosted him.

Things look to be trending in the right direction, but it is going to be razor tight on Tuesday.

Dem governor and Mitch McConnel.

There's some squirrel-potato brain action happening there for sure.

It also gave us Rand Paul. That definitely counts for something.

We've got two basically "barely-right-of-RINO" Senators representing Oklahoma, and haven't had an actual strong conservative that wasn't a complete swamper since Tom Coburn retired at the beginning of 2015. We have a couple real bulldogs in the House, but our Senators are marsh dwellers.

When it comes to federal elections. Different story on the state-level. Democrats have held the governorship for 80 out the past 101 years.
