You’d reject a brilliant doctor or engineer simply because they immigrated here legally?
Over actual American citizens who these ‘brilliant’ immigrants stole a spot from simply because of their race or country of origin? Absolutely. Do you even understand how this works? God damn idiots on here. What I just described is very real. We have qualified people who are natural born American citizens who are denied opportunities simply because of ‘diversity’ and other bullshite that shouldn’t matter.

But they wanted Ron because he's a "winner" and Trump is a "loser" and Ron is the only one who could win in November, just trust me bro. Fun Bunch of mental midgets. Ron would get slaughtered by just about any Democrat in a general. He looked like he didn't even want to be there

I’m talking about what was floated by Trump.
More controls that just granting a green card in conjunction with a diploma.

It's funny how the people who call other god damn idiots are the ones who tend to be the most ignorant and ill-informed. First of all, over 1/3 of visa applicants are denied a visa. It's not like it's carte blanche for anyone who wants to come here to study underwater interpretive dance to get a visa. There are strict requirements including test scores, school of study, financial proof of funds, transcripts, prior degrees, criminal history checks, etc. in order for one to receive a visa to study here. After receiving the visa, they're then required to maintain the standards by which they have been granted entry, meaning they can't come here and screw around or their visa will be revoked.
It would seem to me that the person who acquires a student visa actually has to prove they're more qualified than the native student in order to study here. Apparently, you'd rather take the student with lesser scores and credentials simply because of country of origin when we already have a crisis in this country of American students going to school and taking loans for worthless fields of study. There's quite literally no proof that American students who posses the required application standards are not able to attend college because all the spots are taken by SV students.
You seem like a person who is obviously opposed to illegal immigration, which by the way I am as well, but has also developed of view of immigration in general that is effectively cutting off your nose to spite your face. If you don't want highly qualified students to come and study here and then become productive members of our society, you should just go ahead and say you reject all immigration in it's entirety.

what's the reason we want student visas?
Because they pay the highest tuition fees.

Okay but what are those controls?

Perhaps you're correct but that's a muuuuucccccchhhhhh wider and different conversation relative to why natural born American students are not achieving high levels of academic success that we would like to see. We have a culture issue in many demographics in this country that's causing a lack of qualified students in pertinent fields of study and in the meantime, we're getting our arses kicked in STEM fields from a global perspective. Why not use some of the rest of the worlds best and brightest while we get our cultural shite in order so we don't continue to get lapped economically and technologically?

Colleges and Universities prioritize foreign born students who are on visas for economic reasons and they pass over qualified American citizens for these students in their place. Source(s):
My uncle who was a professor and department head at Virginia Tech for 45 years.
My neighbors who are longtime Georgia Tech and Emory professors. These people are ‘liberals’ who have described to me verbatim what you say isn’t happening as being a very real thing all for money and ‘diversity’.
You are a god damn idiot. We should absolutely prioritize native born Americans for these slots and give very few to foreign born students.

We will get surpassed on the tech front soon enough. Chinese already produce better EVs than we do, at a significant price advantage.

Which indicates to me that which we already know, we have a massive cultural problem in this country demographically with regards to the value and priority we put on education and in particular STEM fields.

I would hold on to it. That is lone wolf behavior.

“What I want to do, and what I will do, is — you graduate from a college, I think you should get automatically, as part of your diploma, a green card to be able to stay in this country,”
Not sure about this. First knee-jerk reaction is, "Are you out of your f***ing mind???" But, as I look at what he said, I see that it's a green card (work visa) that is offered, not citizenship. So, it makes sense that you'd want folks that you educated to stick around for a little while so you can reap some of the benefits of that education they got.
Now, had he said they should receive citizenship I would have a completely different reaction.
quote:
Muh Where Did This Betrayal of MAGA Come From
Is it really a betrayal of MAGA to want the best and brightest of foreign students to stick around after graduation, receive a work visa, and contribute to Making America Great Again?
You're misrepresenting the statement in order to get a knee-jerk reaction and then following it up by making an inference that wasn't implied. Very predictable leftist tactic. Try again.

You had me excited for a LINK to some data.

My uncle who was a professor and department head at Virginia Tech for 45 years.
Okay, first source is anecdotal. Let's see what else we got.

My neighbors who are longtime Georgia Tech and Emory professors. These people are ‘liberals’ who have described to me verbatim what you say isn’t happening as being a very real thing all for money and ‘diversity’.
Anecdotal x2. Cool

According to NAFSA, only about 5 or so percent of all students in the US are international students. That leaves 95% of all other students to be natural born American citizens. The overwhelming majority of US students are in fact American citizens. That number does creep up to around 25% for graduate studies which isn't surprising as only 40ish percent of undergrads attend grad school within two years of graduation. But keep on keeping on with anecdotal evidence and ad hominem insults. It really strengthens your argument.
