I can go online, head to backpage and meet up with someone in 15 minutes or less and buy any piece I want so what is he saying that isn't true? Sure you may not be able to have it delivered to your home from a FFL dealer but that is way more of a pain in the arse than just going online, plus it would take at least a day to get to you which is dumb if you are looking to kill people quickly.

All of it and you're being obtuse. I can meet up with a Backpage whore and do whatever. Doesn't make it right or legal.

The implication of such nonsensical bullshite "buy a gun online without a background check" (patently false) or "gun show loophole" (utter bullshite) - is only used to fool the weak minded and uninformed to go along with some new regulatory scheme that does nothing to improve safety. But it will serve to further chip away at the rights of the law-abiding.

I am not and I think you are being obtuse. Getting backpage whores is illegal, meeting up and buying a weapon isn't. I am all for gun ownership but to act like anyone can't buy any semi-automatic they want in only a few minutes from backpage or some dude at a gun show is dishonest. It's a good thing we can but when you pretend like people can't you hurt our argument.

No loophole when spelled out in the law. Don't know why that is so hard for you to get.

You are correct in that there is no federal law against buying a gun (online or face-to-face at the Waffle House) without a BGC if both the buyer and the seller is within your state. I believe this is to account for selling or gifting your private property to friends and family without additional legal or financial burden. It's pretty common to inherit firearms from dead relatives, too.

Individual states have their own spin on BGCs and some like Colorado require them on all transfers in-state.

I agree that you can buy a gun online without a BGC but criminals aren't really getting their guns that way (criminal buying from a non-criminal). Criminals (those who wouldn't pass a BGC) are getting their guns from relatives or friends and acquaintances that are willing to give/sell them regardless of their history. These people aren't typically going on craigslist and buying from some grandma who is trying to dispose of her late husband's firearm collection.

Point being that anti-gunners complaining about the "gun show loophole" are way off base when it comes to reality. Bad guys aren't getting their guns (typically) from gun shows or grandmas selling in a parking lot. They are stealing them or buying them from other criminals who stole them, thus acting illegally.

I think handguns may have a waiting period but in Louisiana there is no mandatory waiting period for long guns.

There is no waiting period for any guns in my state, nor should there be.

You can't legally buy a gun online and get it shipped to your house.

In Alabama you can go on Gunbroker and buy a long gun from a seller in Alabama and have it shipped to your house. As long as neither person is a licensed dealer.
