One person was killed and seven others were wounded in an attack by Iranian-allied Yemeni rebels on an airport in Saudi Arabia Sunday evening (June 23), the Saudi military said, as the U.S. secretary of state was on his way to the country for talks on Iran.

The Sunday attack by the Yemeni rebels, known as Houthis, targeted the Saudi airport in Abha. Saudi Arabia has been at war with the Houthis in Yemen for more than four years.
A Houthi spokesman, Yahia al-Sarie, said earlier Sunday the rebels had launched drones targeting Saudi airports in the southern cities of Abha and Jizan.

It was the second attack in less than two weeks on Abha's airport. The Houthis launched a cruise missile at the airport on June 12, wounding 26 passengers inside. The Iranian-backed Houthis also claimed responsibility for bomb-laden drone strikes that targeted a key Saudi oil pipeline in recent weeks.

The ME is about to erupt.
Probably best that it happens now before everyone has nuclear weapons.

As long as they use their limited supply on each other I'd have no problem with it.

The Saudis actually supported the Houthi, once upon a time.

“Rebel” and “cruise missle”. Does not compute.

Pompeo visiting Saudi Arabia & Bolton in Israel explaining to America's Masters why the US hasnt attacked Iran yet.

The amount of coverage this will get is infinitely more than the Saudis destroying Yemen with money and weapons from the United States.

I’d like to get Trump re-elected first.

I thought the masters were in Russia?

Yea how did Houthi rebels get long range guided missiles?

This is complicated.
Most all of us want the US out of the ME.
Most of us say the Saudis should be the ones fighting the Iranians.
Many of y'all are firmly against selling the Saudis arms.
We kinda can't have it both ways.

Its just liberal ME policy. Feed and cloth the Yemenis so they can spend their money on rockets. Then get on the media and scream when the Saudis retaliate and bomb them.............
hmm sounds eerily familiar to palestine come to think of it, and that decades old policy has worked oh so well.

Best to set up an Islamic meat grinder like WWI and let them shred each other for the next 20 years.

This is poorly informed.
Yemen was historically split into North and South Yemen.
This reflected geography, and in turn, culture.
In 1990 north and south unified, becoming one country. But they’ve have split apart again on the old lines.
The people of North Yemen are fiver Shia, but their faith is closer to Sunni Islam than what the Persians practice.
They are very hard people. They love to drink, and to chew. Their passion in life is fighting. They’re good at it.
When there are no outsiders to fight, they fight each other.
The Saudis are backing the Sunni of South Yemen.
The Saudis are merchants, and they lack the fortitude for war, for suffering. So they’ve hired a number of other people to do the fighting for them.
They contract out service on weapon systems for the same reason. They don’t want to do the work themselves.
Flying is not beneath the Sauds though. And so they’ve conducted an aggressive bombing campaign, brutalizing the people of Yemen one JDAM at a time.
It’s just casual, purposeless, savagery.
They also, like many devout Sunni, believe that time began with Islam, and that pre Islamic history should be destroyed.
They’re doing a good job of erasing Yemen’s historical monuments.
The Iranians are supporting the Houthi, just to hurt the Saudis. They’ve transferred increasingly modern weapons, including these cruise missiles, as well as suicide drones. They appear to be sending them as parts kits, which the Houthi assemble.
The Saudis have no stomach for fighting. They will be forced to give up.

They’re Iranian designs, but the Houthi claim to be building them.
I assume they’re coming in as parts kits, it’s easier to ship them that way, and they’re getting assembled on the ground.

Saudis will keep paying troops from Africa or South America to do,there ground fighting.

These attacks in Jizan are embarrassing. And the Saudis have already hit Yemen with everything that they’ve got, while the Houthi are growing more capable.
So yes ... but I don’t think it’s sustainable.

This is the Saudi way for about everything.
Frankly would like to see their oil dry up so they'd go back to being goat herders, which is about their ceiling without the petrodollars.

Lets not overthink the situation, the houthis are simply fighting a proxy war for iran, from a Al Jazzera article, who might be a little better informed.....
And to my original point about feeding them so they can spend money on weapons....
And to reinforce my point....
In summary, the houthis are just puppets of iran and if they stopped lobbing missiles at saudi they could concentrate their efforts on fighting within their own country.....course then they would not get weapons from iran or 100s of millions in aid, which they resell, from bleeding heart liberals who actually think they are doing good.
But if you think winning is 75% of the people in the country on the verge of starvation, and the worst cholera outbreak in nearly a century....then yeah they are winning.

However, in recent weeks, Houthi attacks against military and civilian targets within Saudi territory have markedly escalated, which notably coincided with amplifying pressure from the United States and its allies on Iran, a key regional supporter of Yemen's Houthis.
And to my original point about feeding them so they can spend money on weapons....
quote:
Today, the United States announced nearly $24 million in additional emergency aid to the people of Yemen, who face the world's largest humanitarian crisis. This funding brings the total humanitarian assistance provided by the U.S. Government for the Yemen response to nearly $721 million since October 2017.
And to reinforce my point....
quote:
The World Food Programme said on Thursday that it had begun partially suspending aid to Houthi-controlled Sanaa, Yemen’s capital.
The agency has accused the Houthis of stealing food assistance and said suspension would initially be confined to Sanaa city.
