all the way up to combat sports

it's like they have created this wedge issue out of thin air, and dumb conservatives are meeting them on THAT battlefield when the real discussion is way over here. i just don't get how stupid they can be to fall for the rhetorical trap

People are too worried about gay shite and what color people are.

Obama did not bring this nation together, WW2 did!! So if he wants to pretend like he helped heal and strengthen relationships between Americans then frick him.

Americans were getting along just fine before this cockfrick took office.

I think a part of this is strategical/tactical error.

A lot of conservatives, especially salt of the earth kind of folk, take arguments at face value and do not take in to account someone trying to trap them in a rhetorical box, especially when that rhetorical box requires some schizo views.

kind of exactly the point of the book that i started and didn't past past chapter 2

i tried to explain that to a liberal friend of mine last night, actually, b/c she took offense that i wanted to name it "how to argue with a liberal". she pulled the "it should be how to argue with a conservative" and i was like "Well they're not the ones creating the crazy paradigms of discussion" and she was like "that's b/c they're wrong"

Because they probably don't care. It's easier to discuss irrelevant issues than more real, more complex ones.

And here we see the evolution of Puritanism put in to a secular context.

most of my liberal-lawyer friends don't really like engaging me in political debate anymore

since my areas overlap with PI and criminal defense there are a ton of true DEMs and then they find out that i'm not really a DEM and it's intriguing, then they get into it with me once and their "gotcha points for idiot rednecks" don't work and they get upset and avoid

and i don't say that as a brag. they love to selectively pick out easy prey to look stupid. kind of like how the DEM party at large has attacked the middle-lower middle working class to such an extent that the demo has turned its back on them in large numbers. that elitism is just a scourge

I would say that's a sign of you winning, but people don't want to debate me and it's not because I'm besting them. They just got irritated with me.

Excellent points babydoll. On a sidebar note of discussion:

What income nowadays IS lower, middle working class? Or upper middle class? I think they have been phased out so much no one knows anymore?

me too. part is b/c they WANT me to be on their side. part is b/c they're so primed to argue against a certain type of person in a certain way that if you bring them out of that rhetorical paradigm they don't know what to say. nothing is more uncomfortable for any person who feels elitist to be pulled away from a comfort zone and not be able to respond (this goes both ways but is much more skewed to liberal mindset)

nobody knows anymore

i'd say 15k-45k falls in that, but people on here say 100k is solid middle class so it's skewed

I want to. I'm quite proud of how cute he is; I had an irrational concern that he wasn't going to be cute.

That being said, I would feel weird posting his picture for random strangers when I don't even post photos on Facebook (leave that to the wife).
