It's like some folks are trying to do the most 'non-comformative' actions to conform to the norm of being as forward-thinking as possible.

I've been re-reading Jacob Burkhardt's (translated lectures) The Greeks and Greek Civilization.
Ancient and Classical Greeks had an ideal - "agon" - that expressed taking joy in struggle, competition, and suffering. They had no use, in terms of ideal character, of the 'easy life'.
have you ever read Who Killed Homer?

I will say this again and I need someone who supports "gender dysphoria" to somehow give me a logical explanation.
PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS LOGIC::::
When a 100 pound girl sees a 150 pound girl in the mirror --- she has a terrible and DEADLY disease. She needs professional help! She has a serious mental disorder! This is no laughing matter!!!!!! Anorexia is dangerous mental illness.
Everyone agrees with this right??????
HOWEVER......
When the same 100 pound girl sees a 150 pound MAN IN THE MIRROR --- this is normal? This is OK?
We rush to treat the anorexia but on the flip side rush to support this utter craziness? Seeing a fatter image of yourself in the mirror is super serious, but thinking you are a man, or a goat, or a faerie, or something no one has even thought of ----- IS frickING NORMAL?? IS TO BE SUPPORTED???
This world is so fricking scared of labels right now. Its sickening.
Here is the real rub. Most of these poor individuals, WHO NEED TREATMENT, will now get the opposite of what they need --- support, and confirmation.
"Yes dear, it is ok that you are batshit crazy. I'm sure you will have such a happy and healthy life.
And just remember -- the entire world is wrong, not you...my sweet little snowflake."

well i mean as more niche (i mean "marginalized") groups become accepted and part of the mainstream, there is only one way to go if you want to be able to claim REAL victim status

I have not, but a quick google tells me that I should. I'll give it a read.

Social Matter criticizes a contemporary Classicist
I knew I had read the title of that book recently. This was just a few days ago.

No. It isn't.
Every definition pretty much reads like this
quote:
Gender Fluid is a gender identity best described as a dynamic mix of boy and girl. A person who is Gender Fluid may always feel like a mix of the two traditional genders, but may feel more boy some days, and more girl other days.
Being Gender Fluid has nothing to do with which set of genitalia one has, nor their sexual orientation.
So please define it as you see it vs the way it's defined by everyone else or is the definition of it fluid as well?

There are real genital/chromosome/fetal development issues and then there are mental identify issues. I don't think we should lump them together.
Someone born with both parts has real actual problems and shouldn't have the same label as someone with mental confusion because they are turning a real actual physical problem into a pop cultural identify issue...basically the whole think is "jumping the shark" because of some attention whores.

quote:It's the same paradoxical reasoning as "counter-cultures" which are a culture in and of themsleves.
It's like some folks are trying to do the most 'non-comformative' actions to conform to the norm of being as forward-thinking as possible.
But as it relates to gender, I'm fine with people disregarding gender norms (e.g., colors, interests, etc.) and roles (e.g., professions, chores, etc.), but just because I like "chick flicks" and wear purple and pink, doesn't mean my identity as a person is any different.
But my biggest issue is conflating "gender identity" with sexuality. One is a preference (sexuality) and one is a internal view of oneself (identity); they are only tangentially related, if at all.

So a five star gender fluid athlete could play for the men's and women's team?

]Zuckerberg’s first proposal has me a bit perplexed: she appears to be advising her colleagues to push their students toward white supremacy. “When you hear someone,” she says, “say that they are interested in Classics because of ‘the Greek miracle’ or because Classics is ‘the foundation of Western civilization and culture’ … point out that such ideas are a slippery slope to white supremacy.”
of course
of fricking course

Isn't there some silly "gender fluid" actor/actress up for both a men's and women's best actor/actress award in the Oscars? Or being considered for it or something stupid like that.

I am, too. Despite what I think what ought to be, I have no authority to tell someone otherwise.
What is most surprising is that in Scandinavian countries which have tried to eliminate all systemic 'gender bias', the gender balance in traditional fields of, for this example, engineering and social work is extremely skewed towards more 'original' preferences, with men dominating engineering and women dominating social work.

The problem with telling kids that they are perfect just the way they are is that they then expect you to accept their mental illnesses when they develop.

i honestly don't get why we're so caught up in honoring gender. just keep all this at the sex level and we're done

It's because we've had communists teaching social sciences and humanities for several generations.
Or maybe I've got too much Birch in me.

The bathrooms are designed around the biological "plumbing" of the two sexes.
